Such a heartbreaking story that no one should experience. Especially by their own mother
katiebugg-4997128 August 2023
These two girls pulled so hard on my heartstrings. I just wanted to grab them and hug them tight. The psychotic abuse they experienced from their mother was unimaginable. Part of me wishes there was some backstory about the mother's life to explain why she is the way she is. (Not that that would change my opinion in any way, I'm just curious). With her being from Korea I wondered if she thought certain punishments were normal? Either way, the fact that these girls endured what they did, and made it out together is such a gut wrenching story. I couldn't help but to cry, be angry, be proud, and at the end feel a little spark of hope and happiness for both of them. Def worth a watch. Wish these girls nothing but a happy and peaceful life.

Family secrets.....
TheDyingGirl20 June 2023
Sometimes family secrets are so damaging to the vulnerable people around the vicinity all in an effort to keep up a facade. I definitely think the kids should have been told their brother was away for doing something very bad. Not exactly the details by telling the kids this it would have let them know that he is not a nice person. But then again parents think that their kids can never do wrong and that what happened was just an off chance, a one time heinous thing that is out of character and never to be done again. When he came back they really should have restricted Billy's access to his own siblings or should have monitored the kids more considering the crime he had gone to a mental institution for. Instead of letting him gallivant with his little siblings unchaperoned. He also killed someone and that was a major fault and oversight on the parents but these were different times.

I think some people think it's ridiculous that kids nowadays are being taught about consent from a young age that if someone hugs you and if you don't like that and if you feel uncomfortable it is within your right to say no but I think this is also important because it allows kids to be more open and to have boundaries. It allows kids to be more vocal and talk about what is wrong with someone who they can trust . 90% of the time people are killed or assaulted by the people close to them not strangers. But because this was such a secretive home no one spoke. They seemed more concerned with not bringing shame and notoriety on the family and that ended up causing an irreparable damage on the younger siblings. They might have reunited now but they were so many lost years and there is still tension between them.

I am not sure if I believe Karen saying that she would not have tried to talk the little sister out of going to the police and that she should have been consulted first but what exactly did Susan do wrong? Karen was also not supportive of her. Besides Suzan went in to talk about what was done to her and that has nothing to do with Karen. In fact she did not even know that Karen was abused as well since they were not that close due to Billy's manipulation tactics. Coupled with the fact that every family member seemed to treat Billy with kiddy gloves and were extremely upset everytime he was incarcerated. I don't blame her one bit for going straight to the police to stop his brother cause it doesn't look like his family planned to do anything other than welcoming him back with open arms and reintegrate back into society and to pick up right were he left off as a predator. Sad that Susan died soon after . Billy was such a monster. An emotional roller coaster. Very sad indeed!
