- The guys make a bet with Rachel as to which of their cases will benefit the firm the most. Hers is about a psychic wrongfully terminated from her job; theirs involves piracy and a one man fishing boat.
- While the duo is at the beach again, Peter and fellow studly surfer Gino nearly threaten each-other to fight, only for Jared's intervention, mentioning they're lawyers, to inspire Gino -actually a customs officer, conveniently- instead to insinuate his mates won't make the beach unwelcome if they help his uncle. That's nice, rare environmentally-aware fisherman Johnny, who boat was needlessly towed away by a company charging him a crushing $25,000 likely to bankrupt him. Doubting if such case can be lucrative, even by publicity, Rachel dares them again, to do better then the case she dumps on unprepared Karp: defending an alleged medium, who was fired on pretext of being a fraud, meanwhile having an undercover PI find out the real reason. Despite judge Elliot Reid's unusual tolerance for their original tactics, pleading Johnny didn't need help given his sea-legs backfires dirtily in a nausea simulator, they pull off a piracy charge after working out it was a set-up. Due to a cocky beach-house owners vendetta, Sanford urges them not to return the luxury coach they picked up unattended at the beach and donated to Pindar, who just loved it.—KGF Vissers
- Open with Bash upset that another surfer cut him off and stole one of his waves. Once the guy, Geno, realizes they're lawyer he asks for help with his brother, a commercial fisherman named Johnny. Johnny was saved by Ventura County Rescue in bad weather, but they are charging him $25,000 for the rescue and it will put him out of business. When the guys say they don't want to take the case Geno threatens to use his connections as a Fish and Wildlife employee to make their surfing lives very difficult.
Johnny tells the guys he was told by the helicopter rescuer that he and his boat, the Carly Rose, were in trouble. He disagrees, particularly because he fishes with poles, not nets.
King tells the guys she doesn't want them to take the case because Johnny doesn't have money to pay them and sees no long-term value for the firm. When they hear she and Karp are taking the case of a psychic, there is a bet to see which of the cases will raise the firm's profile the most. If the guys lose they'll have to show up to work on time for six months, if they win they have the flexibility to come in whenever they want.
Pindar loves the new white couch Bash got, likely to impress Charlie.
Before court King warns the client, Juliette, that it could get rough during her wrongful termination proceedings. Karp argues religious persecution, saying her gift is part of a tradition passed down from her grandmother.
Pindar calls the guys with word that the new coach actually belongs to Rob Lowe and had been sitting outside his place to dry out. Infeld is starting a new foundation having something to do with erections. King asks Carmen to do some digging into Juliette and the company where she worked.
Juliette is arrested when she runs into her box at the office while returning her key. She shook hands with him, saw a vision of him yelling at her and hitting her, then hit him with pepper spray.
The captain of the rescue vessel testifies Johnny was grossly negligent going out in those weather conditions. The plan is for Johnny and the captain to go head-to-head on a motion simulator to prove how good Johnny is at handling such conditions. Unfortunately Johnny had been drinking and vomits within seconds.
The Carly Ray has been found. When Johnny talks about getting his boat back from the people who found her, Franklin plays the audio of initial call to rescue him, which was supposed to have come from a freighter. Given there is no engine noise in the background; Johnny thinks the call was made by a competitor, Highline Fishing.
The guys drop by Highline Fishing. They see a bird cage and think of the chirping noise they had heard in the rescue call.
After hearing testimony attesting to Juliette's psychic ability, she says that she saw her boss, Brian, attacking her. Karp argues that she was acting in self-defense, but the judge says that only applies if they can prove John was going to do something.
The guys ask a judge to subpoena Highline Fishing's bird, Mr. Beaks. He's not going for it.
Carmen arrives for an interview at Capstone (Juliette's former place of business) under a fake name. She strikes up a conversation with the secretary and asks about Juliette.
Infeld has been contacted by Rob Lowe about the couch. He doesn't like Lowe and tells them not to return it.
Geno tells the guys that at Fish and Wildlife he has a quite a range of authority to investigate companies if they are suspected of malfeasance.
King suggests a settlement to Juliette, which she takes as an indication her lawyer aren't confident of her being able to demonstrate her psychic abilities in court. She touches King and tells her she's "receiving a crown, but don't want it."
Geno is able to get the guys into the living room of Highline Fishing's owner to see Mr. Beaks. There is a suspicious spray bottle near his cage.
In court Juliette fails at guessing a name and number John writes on a piece of paper.
Rob Lowe's assistant drops by the guys' place looking for the couch. Pindar doesn't let him in.
Carmen reports to King that John had been involved in some shady business practices back when Juliette still worked at Capstone.
The guys bring the judge precedent for subpoenaing a bird. They plead on behalf of Johnny's eco-friendly business practices.
King puts Brian on the stand and makes reference to Mt. Hood Community College. She then asks if he fired Juliette just to gain access to her client list. His face falls and he says yes. Apparently Carmen found out that Brian went to a school that would embarrass him if it were to be discovered.
Franklin puts Highline Fishing's secretary on the stand. They play the anonymous call, which features a strange chirping noise, then call Mr. Beaks to the stand. The secretary says he's never said a word, but when the bird is put near her she starts sneezing. They noticed anti-dander spray in her office.
Karp tells Juliette that Capstone is offering her Brian's job. She takes Karp's hand and says she sees him in jail.
Since the guys have essentially won the first anti-piracy case since the 19th century King tells them they won the bet. Johnny is getting his boat back and Highline will be paying his fine.
Pindar tells the guys the couch is gone.
