A true warrior doesn't need a sword
duranpemarcelo20 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And here we are. At the end of a road and the beginning of another. I found this episode to be a satisfying conclusion to the season and exposition for what will be happening next.

It was extremely heartwarming seeing a son return to his mother 16 years later. I thought this episode would be focusing on the road towards Vinland, but as mentioned, it was satisfying to find that Thorfinn returned to his family at least for a while.

What a great way to end a great season. Following Thorfinn's journey from a man with no goals and motivation to what he has become is one of the best character development I've ever seen. He truly has become a warrior. His father would be proud.

Episode: 9.5/10 Season: 9.5/10.

Beautiful way to end this masterpiece season! Vinland Saga is special...
TomiMaster1419 June 2023
Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 24: "Hometown" Ladies and Gentleman..., what an incredible season and arc it has been. Which was crowned by this last episode.

So..., Thorfinn finally is back to his home after so many years and what else can I say? It was as expected a beautiful but emotional moment for them. Seeing the face of your mother and sister after so long must've been such a great feeling for him. So the reunion was incredibly sad, happy and funny all at the same time. But one thing for sure, Thorfinn deserved this moment in his life.

Huge shout out to Leif for spending 6 years looking for Thorfinn and bringing him back home. He deserves some serious recognition for that. Bravo Mr. Leif!

It's pretty amazing how well Vinland Saga managed to wrap up both seasons. And yeah I know that this season or this anime/story in general not for everyone, I can understand that but for me Vinland Saga is a really special and wonderful series. One of the best I ever watched. Throfinn's character development will be remembered forever. And the main message of the series is timeless!

Thank you to everyone who was involved in this show. It was a lifetime experience!

What an amazing journey this series has been. Absolutely loved this season and I am looking forward to the next!

End of the Season
sebysooraj19 June 2023
As a manga reader, this was a really great episode. It's safe to say Vinland Saga isn't underrated anymore and I'm glad it's getting the attention it truly deserved with the "I have no enemies" quote. My only criticism was that Mappa cut out 2 scenes from the manga if I'm recalling it correctly. And that's not even what i consider as a complaint, i guess it's more nitpicking. Many fans dropped Season 2 because there was barely any action. They'll regret it because Vinland Saga teaches people lessons far greater than many pieces of fiction. They even did a really brilliant ending scene by showing us important character's pasts and what's to come for the future. Makoto Yukimura, you GOAT.

best show of the entire year

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know how this show does it but every episode this season was a masterpiece of storytelling and this one is no different.

First off i just want to give credit to a very underrated character in my opinion, Lief Ericson. This man continued to search for Thorfinn even after finding him in York at the end of last season, now at the end of this season he completed his mission to find Thorfinn and the look on his face when he saw Helga and Thorfinn embrace gave me a deep sense of respect for him and what he had to go though to find Thorfinn. He's the definition of a 🐐

That being said we've been spoiled all season with some of the best character development, writing and overall storytelling and I feel like we're just getting started with Thorfinn as well as his brother Einar looking determined to create Vinland.

Best anime of the year and also the best show of the entire year by far.

Struggle to reunion
aboalhyjaa19 June 2023
We just witnessed a deeply emotional and heartwarming episode! Finally in Iceland after a long journey and 2 seasons.

The episode shows how important to have attention to details in any show. The drawing of the beautiful landscape of Iceland is truly one of a kind.

Thorfinn's reunion with his family is the emotional core of the episode. The scenes are filled with raw emotions from some and funny interactions with others.

The episode explores themes of growth and the consequences of your actions. It reminds us how important family bonds is. These themes hit hard with us fans of the show, evoking some sense of empathy.

Perfect finale for this season
vera_keyes18 August 2023
I liked this season even more than the previous one. I strongly support the author's worldview and I hope more people will see and understand the meaning of this work.

From an impulsive child to an adult sensible man. Thorfinn went through a difficult path of understanding and accepting his mistakes. I'm looking forward to the third season.

The finale itself is very emotional. Unlike the first season's final episode, this one doesn't end with some epic bang, but rather gives us a solid peaceful closure to one of the series' most important storylines. I love how the two seasons conclude in completely different ways, but both of them still do it masterfully!

The dark season ends with a surprisingly very hopeful episode
good_placeholder17 March 2024
I loved this season and did not expect the final episode to be so contrastingly different from the rest of the arc. However, this huge change of tone works really well and provides a satisfying conclusion for this part of the story.

After enduring so much, it's just so pleasant to see Thorfinn in such a lighthearted environment, showcasing that the cruel world of Vinland Saga does not exclusively consist of violence and misery. There are still places with good people who live simple happy lives, which gives us a shred of hope that it is still possible for a man like Thorfinn to give up violence and establish a place with no wars and hate, somewhere far away.

Rather A Segway Than A Season Finale
jorissvandijk19 June 2023
Compared to the last final episode of Season 1, this felt very underwhelming.

There was much time wasted on comedic moments that felt very out of place and didn't make much sense from a character standpoint. I always admired how this anime manages to stay very grounded throughout most of the show and managed to make the best Japanese animated episode I have every seen. Which is ofcourse S1E24.

This episode compares very poorly. And yes I am giving this a 7, rather than an 8 because of that fact. The expectations are raised to the maximum for it to be wasted on pay-offs that are below par for what this show has delivered so far.

Beside that, the last couple minutes were absolutely gorgeous and set up what's to come next very convincingly. It still made me very hyped for Season 3.
