Great horror flick
travelingstrawberries24 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely had a fun time watching this. The actors are fantastic, the jump scares are unpredictable. The special effects are amazing for an indie film studio! I love found film footage, I love feeling like I'm apart of the group and in the movie, they do a great job at succeeding at that. The mirror touch was interesting, I liked that.. It made me think into it more, like if that was the only way the witch could "pass over" into our world.

The only thing that is unbelievable to me is that someone would leave a VHS tape for a group to watch. Hahaha. But that's no big deal.

Please do yourself a favor and watch.

DBS review
brookelovesmario20 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot line was just okay, but the acting was really good. Liggy who should have had more in the movie was truly amazing. There was some shaky camera angels that needed to be fix in some shots, but overall DBS did an amazing job on this movie.

Alexa who played the main character was truly amazing, the set was great too.

Now don't get me started on the makeup, it was truly something amazing, the fake blood and everything really made this film truly something. The ending left off on a massive cliffhanger and I wish we could find out why the witch took these campers. That's the main question of the movie.

Once again great job everyone.

Horrible
acoop-1906820 August 2023
The acting in this is bad even for an indie film. Its basically a carbon copy of blair witch project with small differences. The actors stare straight into the camera and talk the whole movie and pause dramatically right before anything remotely scary is going to happen. I would have stopped watching 5 minutes into the movie if I hadn't paid for it, which I only did because somehow this has an 8.8/10 on here. Camera quality was actually really good but the acting and story line was so horrible. Predictable ending. Its really annoying because most of the movie is spent watching them walk around the forest talking with nothing happening, and the final 4 minutes of the movie is the only part with anything interesting happening. 0/10 wish i could get my money back.

Blair Witch Project Knock Off!
icocleric4 September 2023
Have you seen Blair Witch Project? This is the knock off version of that, and everything that gives found footage a bad name. It adds absolutely nothing creative, has bad acting, and shaky cam all over the place. So bad you barely see anything.

The opening scene was creepy, and neat. But that is the highlight of the entire film, and it only goes down hill from there. They don't even try and give back story to the witch, or how she might have got there.

Just she makes people go missing in the woods. Like they try and frame it as a documentary. They could have pretended to do research into the legend more. But all round the film is dull.

Another great DBS film
jettjoe-6334925 August 2023
A cozy rainy evening was a prefect way to watch this film. It was gripping from the very beginning, with a strong start and great chemistry with the cast.

The story is also original and stands out from most Found Footage films, which is a MASSIVE plus in my book, because the genre was starting to feel stale for me after a while.

The only criticism I have for this, is that some of the characters Occasionally reacted in ways that didn't feel realistic, or responded to things a little too late or soon. It didn't entirely pull me out of the firm Grasp this film had on me, but it did stand out when it happened.

I will say, however, that the actors clearly cared about their characters and owned their roles the whole way through.

I can't wait to re-watch this again. Definitely going into an Octoberfest list in the years to come.

Left Me On Edge
pelhamstudios23 August 2023
Kudos to DBS Films! They did a great job building suspense and I really enjoyed Nelson's character! The whole time I was watching I couldn't help but wonder "so what's the truth?" There's something about that forest that turns people crazy.. perhaps it's the unimaginable grief that they experience (because I started to truly believed that they were as unhinged as the character..) Great acting and screenwriting overall. I think the storyline or script could have used more drama or world building to really draw in the audience and captivate us with the array of unsolved abductions. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this indie horror film.

Astonishingly bad
amckig4 October 2023
I don't understand why they haven't been sued by the writers of The Blair Witch Project. Its like The Blair Witch but....auful. Also is very poor visually. They are all spotlessly clean...while camping in the apparent deep dark wood, while being tormented by crazy locals and a witch. It looks like a studio or well maintained play park, I feel the illusions of deep forest was never there to begin with. No depth to storyline or characters. I feel like many of the reviews here are likely by family/friends of the cast and crew as the stars awarded and reviews given are a far cry away from the true waste of time that is this film.

A good indie horror.
josephkylerr23 August 2023
I liked the concept and the storyline of this film a lot, the characters were good and the suspense building was done well, I also think the soundtrack was really well matched to the mood. It starts off by jumping immediately into the story which I love and then dives into unraveling the mystery of what happened. I think the characters were played really well and when the fourth wall breaks occurred they felt appropriately placed to give off the vibe of actual vloggers / YouTubers. I think overall they succeed in delivering what you would expect from a found footage indie horror film, some suspense, good jump scares and of course that one character that you can't figure out if he's a good guy, a bad guy or just flat out insane!

3.7 stars on imdb...
phantommullet-9243410 January 2024
Weird how there are over 15 10 star reviews for this movie when it has this rating. Almost like those could have purchased? Just a theory.

Boring Blair witch rip off. I knew it was bad in first 5 minutes. Mother and daughter hike into deep woods and don't start setting up camp until dark. I would have loved to see them drag thar giant, non collapsible, patio chair all the way out there. I guess it was just there?

Set up fire, and then start setting up tent. No firelight brightening the tent building, but I guess the moon was out, full, and about 100,000 miles closer to earth than it should have been to produce that light. Still better than day for night I suppose.

Then, the daughter starts screaming that she saw something, and the mother bursts into the tent and whines that it's 3am and the was sleeping. Why was she not sleeping in the tent?

Finally, they used a round template to make it look like the entire Forrest wasn't lut by their foray of lights. They thought that would make it look like it was just a single flashlight? It looked awful, it was kind of nauseating, and they did it for a good portion of the movie.

I don't even want to continue talking about this further. It's just making me angry. Why do such a direct Blair witch rip off in 2023?

Not as good- or bad- as you might think.
twelvetwo11 September 2023
Judging by the existing reviews on here, this is either a work of genius or the worst film made in many a long year. Of course it's neither.

It's- yet another - found footage affair. My patience with this "genre" was exhausted a long time ago- and I never had much to begin with It seems more contrived than just about any style of film making I can think of. Just seems to be an excuse for bad storytelling and poor film making generally. And I could- go on then, I will- harp on about the dogged determination with which these people stick to their cameras, when all logic dictates that they'd throw the damned things as far as they could.

That being said, this is not the worst. It generally looks fairly good. The acting is better than is often found in these things. The lead female character was reasonably engaging in fact. It did manage to slip in one pretty decent jump scare- got me pretty good in fact.

The ending, as so often in these films, was pretty underwhelming. I know with a found footage film you are pretty much condemning yourself to a vague/desultory non ending, and this did not disappoint in that regard.

I'd be mildly interested to see what- if anything- these guys do next.

You've Seen It All Before
gary-3332813 January 2024
I'll give it a couple of stars because the acting wasn't the worst (but not great) and the filming wasn't the worst (but not great). The story moved extremely slowly. It seemed like they really had to work hard to stretch it out to make it a movie rather than a short film. Even at 80 minutes there were multiple scenes that could have been eliminated and not affected the story line one bit. There was nothing original in the whole film.

I also find it interesting that all the rave reviews were written in about a one week span. You definitely have to have a vested interest to consider this a great movie.

Badly done Blair Witch ripoff
coreypartin16 January 2024
The acting is terrible and the storyline is taken right from The Blair Witch, including the final girl filming herself and apologizing to her parents and the stick figures hanging from trees. The characters are boring and give you no reason to care about their survival. What little effects there are aren't terrible, but they're not good either. I was hoping for a low-budget found footage film, but this one really scraped the bottom of the barrel. There isn't a single good actor in the entire film, and the cinematography is so cheesy and gives every jump scare away. Overall, it's unoriginal and not worth watching.

Wow!
snm-9426220 August 2023
If you like indie films I highly suggest following this studio. Their movies get better and better with each production and this is by far their best yet! The main characters were played by very talented actors. The emotions in the parents' scenes felt real and raw. The plot kept me in suspense and the anticipation was great. The jump scares were awesome and the setting was beautiful and spooky.

The only critique I have is that there are some cuts in the scenes that take away from the "found footage" vibes. Other than that I really liked it! Good work!

I can't wait to see what they put out next.

Horror in the Forest
piperhalliwell-8682620 August 2023
DBS Films is an Indie Film Production Company that gets everyone involved with whole movie making process. Making Movies for the Fans with the Fans. In the latest, (Horror in the Forest Film). Get the feel of 1999 Found Footage Movie,As you go down the rabbit hole with Nelson as he continues his search for his missing daughter. And who or what is in the Woods. Don't let the children go into the woods you never know what's lurking. Grab your flashlight and a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the latest film from DBS Films. You'll never feel the same about Camping in the Woods ever again. Gotta LOVE the Intro Girl.

Good Inide movie
isauratrinidad26 August 2023
First thing to say is the camera work has really come a long way since the beginning of DBS Films. Into the Forest is a pretty decent movie with some jump scares and good moments. As some other ratings have mention it's not a new idea but is a good take at it. If you like indie movies you should definitely give a chance to both this movie and the DBS Films team. DBS have stand up behind their model of making movies for fans with their fans, giving the chance and opportunities to people from different backgrounds to act and be a part of their productions. So even if the acting is not always perfect, or you think the movies need some work, remember this is a growing studio that I'm their way up are also helping fans go up with them.

Best film from DBS
rosecreeper19 August 2023
This film is the best out of all the DBS films. What puts this one part is the acting. Some of the side characters in this steal the scene. The story line itself is one we've seen before, but just a different execution. That doesn't mean it's a bad take at all though. The jump scares are fun, if you're into that kind of thing. Over all, I know there will be mixed reviews, but please know this is somewhere in between. There will be some that say best movie ever and other saying worst movie ever. Again the acting alone bumps it up a couple starts as they deserve it. Please just give it a watch if you have the time and do not mind a good indie movie.

The Best DBS Film to Date!
moviegoer-6217724 August 2023
This was a very great Found-Footage movie from DBS films and the best so far from them as they continue to improve with each movie they create! The acting from everyone was amazing which kept me engaged throughout! The directing, cinematography, and dialogue were fantastic! The story itself was cliche but it's very hard not to be in this day and age lol but it was still very interesting as I haven't seen that many found-footage films myself. The only minor takeaways that prevented the rating from being a 10 were that the audio was peaking sometimes, the editing was a little choppy sometimes, and the dialogue was sometimes hard to hear as well. All in all, a very fun entertaining movie from DBS! Great job!

Great indie FF movie
ashaleehatfieldbenson20 August 2023
DBS did it again, I'm a huge FF fan and absolutely loved Into the forest. This was a second take on that story and I think it hit better. The actors was really decent, the more lore and backstory was good. Character depth was lacking but didn't bring the movie down in any way. I do wish we got to see the "witch" more. The ending was very lackluster and almost angering, which is a little bit of a themselves with these movie makers.

Plenty of jumpscares to go around.

The biggest thing is their use of their fans in the moves. I absolutely love how they utilize DBS fans for side roles.

Can't wait to see what DBS pulls out next time!

YESS!!
christyvetter26 August 2023
The opening definitely grabs you. For Indie films this is one of DBS best yet! I can't wait to see what they come out with next. You can feel the suspense as you are waiting for the next scare to come. My husband definitely was jumping next to me! The location definitely gives out creepy killer vibes. Horror in the Forest isn't a normal DBS slasher film. This movie reminded me so much of The Blair Witch and brought me back to my youth. Oh and not to mention that creepy toy in the beginning... no no no! . Everything was on point in this film. The actors are getting better and only can get better with time like fine wine.

A Pleasant Surprise
Pipkiller9420 August 2023
A movie that really improves on previous attempts by having characters that feel more logical in their decisions, fears, and actions. Still has room for improvement but is definitely moving up in the world. Jumpscares are few and far between but used effectively enough that they may catch you slipping. But more than anything else, at the end of the day the best thing about this movie is the acting feels like that of long time professionals. Despite this being an independent film with actors that have mostly minimal acting credits this film feels like the actors are seasoned veterans with a lengthy history in the horror genre.

Thumbs up for Andrew and Erica
gstone-9490120 August 2023
Some of the very first DBS films were probably worse than b-rated. This movie is a HUGE improvement from the old days. And much better actors- shout out to the two leads :: Andrew Thomas and Erica Tyler. Andrew tackled his role with precision and maintained rationality admits the chaos. Erica performed her role with passion and I loved the interaction between the two of them. This film was not at all what I expected. Terrifying and very sad at the same time. The premise was supernatural and / or psychological... you chose. Some of the intense screaming from the plump father became slightly annoying at times. But overall, thumbs up.

The Blair Woods Project
mhiggott30 August 2023
Documentary film makers go to a forest where children keep going missing. It's a found-footage style horror full of jump scares. For hardcore horror fans it's not bad. For anyone who's not madly into horror it's definitely not essential viewing. While it isn't very original, it's quite effective, and the acting and direction are reasonably good, although it has a slightly improvised feel to it, and the ending is a little disappointing. Perhaps the most impressive thing here is the suspicious number of 10/10 ratings - great job mobilising people to bump up the IMDB score, but not very convincing. Something a little more original that doesn't rely on jump scares so much might be a good idea in future.

A Solid Entry in Found Footage
brentdowns21 August 2023
Starts with a bang and finishes with an intense finale. There are plenty of jump scares to make this a fun watch. Even when you know they're coming, they got me. The characters are developed well and their motivation is easy to understand. They are believable in what they are doing and you can feel the anxiety and tension in the most dramatic scenes, often building to an inevitable and explosive conflict between characters. The movie flows well and the pace is fast and never slows down too much where you could lose interest. The story tells the tale of children disappearing in the woods. The locals know to stay away. The main characters find out why. It has a satisfying ending which can often be disappointing in alot of indie features.

Spooky & Suspenseful Storytelling
lesr-9508024 August 2023
Such a great watch! I was going to watch half and go to sleep but I ended up staying up to see the end. The found footage format was super effective, and the whole thing was well-shot and well-acted. The characters were believable and well-rounded. And most importantly, the suspense built rapidly throughout the film without ever losing momentum. And the scares were there- I genuinely jumped at several points throughout the movie! Overall, I'd recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of classic horror and mockumentary- the plot is full of twists and turns and the ending doesn't disappoint...:)

Exceeded my expectations
rjvs-7718521 August 2023
I have to admit that I've never been the biggest fan of found footage style films. However, DBS Films focused on delivering a great story rather than making the whole film about the fact that it was found footage. Jim Johnson gives a stand out performance and will thoroughly creep you out the whole time.

I've seen several DBS Films productions and I have to say with each one, they just get better. From the storylines, the acting performances, and the overall production value, they only get better and do not disappoint!! If you liked The Blair Watch Project, I would venture to say that you will like Horror in the Forest more!
