I know that many people have been reporting bugs in it, but that will most likely be fixed soon. But I personally haven't had any bugs/glitches with mine and I love it. I just got it and already have about 7 hours played. The campaign is exciting and the battles are fun. The battles remind me a lot of Lord Of The Rings battles, where the armies march up to each other and just fight. It is a really fun thing to do after a long day and you just want to relax. I would highly recommend this to anybody that likes strategy games, it is my first time playing a game from Creative Assembly but it certainly won't be my last.

Updated Review. 2017. ( 2018 at bottom. Unbelivable...)
So. To summarize my review in 2013 I said this game was abysmal garbage in every single possible way. The biggest letdown in total war history. Many people argue its better. Its fixed. Its super epic now. 10 out of 10.
Is it?
Well I played this throughout its patching cycle and can attest all those people are liars. or severely blinded by their love for CA.
Anyway. Its 2017 now and I tried it again. How does it fare?
I downloaded 3 mods. The imperial legions by Leonardo. Great modder. And another one adding new formations to roman soldiers. All up to date. No bugs, no lag, nada. They work.
Then I tried a siege fight. Love sieges. Don't we all? I played the Romans. Enjoyed the epic design of Leonardos custom designs of Legionnaries. Saw the Gauls coming at me.
We both had armies of around 3000 men. I'm running a titan here so performance is not an issue at ll. Game ran smooth 60 frames.
UNTIL THE RAM BROKE DOWN MY GATES AND 2000 GAULS FREAKED OUT DUE TO THE GARBAGE PATHFINDING AND LAGGED OUT MY ENTIRE GAME TO THE POINT WHERE 1 IN GAME SECOND....turned into 4.
And then I remembered... Hey. didn't that happen back in 2013 too? Also when walls were smashed. yup. Doors, walls, anything that isn't open bloody terrain will lag you the hell out because Julian Mckinlay didn't F'ing understand how the bloody program path finding in this game.
this piece of garbage filth was a 1 out of 10 4 years ago and it still is to this bloody day.
BEAUTIFUL; EPIC MODS....do NOT save it from this score. And you bloody fanboys should open your damn eyes and realize this before recommending people to play something like this.
Unfinished, broken, unoptimized. It's not borderline unplayable...its 100 % COMPLETELY unplayable unless you absolutely avoid auto-resolve every god damn siege fight ( GL with that. You'll lose all your cities....) because the moment the AI runs through the door or climbs the bloody ladders even... GG WP.

The game is just as bad as its always been. Buy Attila instead. Its not perfect but its WAY more optimized and contains a lot of what Rome 2 is missing. And whatever you do... stay away from Warhammer. Its even more dumbed down.
Creative Assembly in a nutshell = 2 steps forwards, 3 steps backwards. Every single game release. Rome 2 is a testament to this fact. Just like Empire, Napoleon was and warhammer now is too.
1 out of 10. Disgusting, insulting garbage. False advertising, broken promises, exercise in utter frustration. Stay clear of this. Don't let the mods lure you in. Its not worth it.
UPDATE 2018 = THEY UPDATED THE GAME... and put in Guard Mode and BROKE EVERY SINGLE F#CKING MOD MADE FOR 5 YEARS!. THOUSANDS OF MODS.... ALL DEAD.
CONGRATULATUTIONS, CREATIVE ASSEMBLY.... on being the biggest F'ing jackasses of the entire god damn decade next to EA and its lootboxes. You just killed countless mods numbering in the thousands because you had to return and NOT FIX ANYTHING... and not take into account the POSSIBILITY...
You know... the TINY POSSIBILITY....that MAYBE the modders that supported their mods 4 years ago MAYBE DONT ANYMORE. They moved on, you know!
