  Elena Gilbert : vampire-slaughtered roommate had a picture of my dad on her phone?

  Caroline Forbes : [shakes her head]  No.

  Elena Gilbert : Oh, uh, I went by the hospital this morning.

  Elena Gilbert : Megan's death certificate. It says she died of suicide. No mention of the gaping vampire bites on her neck. So whoever signed off on the cause of death was part of the cover-up. Just like the Founder's Council back home.

  Caroline Forbes : Dr. Wesley Maxfield?

  Elena Gilbert : A.k.a. our Applied Microbiology professor. I switched our classes around so...

  Caroline Forbes : Applied what what? Uh, Elena, we're supposed to be taking Intro to Communication. What happened to getting drunk and making bad decisions about boys? What happened to our fun freshman year at college? I'm supposed to be a drama major!

  Elena Gilbert : You're not going to be an anything major if we get exposed as vampires!

  [glances over her shoulder again, then chuckles:] 

  Elena Gilbert : We are still going to have our fun year, Caroline. But we have to protect ourselves. The way Damon kept his secret at Mystic Falls is because he infiltrated the Founder's Council. So bust out those acting skills... and let's get on it, okay?

• Katherine Pierce : [as they pull in at service station]  Ugh, thank God we're stopping. If I can only get out of the car...

  Matt Donovan : Well, you can't. Because as soon as we get gas, we get back on the road.

  Katherine Pierce : [groans]  But I'm dying back here.

  Jeremy Gilbert : You're not getting out of the car because you want aspirin.

  Katherine Pierce : Then maybe I can get out of the car because I need to pee? Like, in a bathroom? Like a lady?

  [Matt holds himself in, refraining from telling her that she's not a lady] 

• Jeremy Gilbert : [after untying Katherine]  Hurry.

  Katherine Pierce : My throat is really scratchy. And... and... my head hurts,

  Katherine Pierce : right here. And when I cough...

  [disgusted:] 

  Katherine Pierce : it's green.

  [sticks her tongue way out] 

  Katherine Pierce : So get me some stuff for all that.

  Jeremy Gilbert : Silas knows I'm with you, so I can't risk being seen.

  Katherine Pierce : [impatiently]  Please?

  Matt Donovan : Fine.

• Jeremy Gilbert : [as Katherine eyes shotgun]  Don't even think about it.

  Katherine Pierce : Please. I wouldn't even know how to use it. I've never shot a gun in my life. Didn't need to. I was much more deadly.

  Jeremy Gilbert : Key word? Was.

  Matt Donovan : [as Katherine coughs]  I'm gonna get some wood for the fire. I'll be back.

  Katherine Pierce : [mostly to herself]  I survived childbirth, the death of my entire family... and five hundred years of running from an immortal hybrid.

  [to Jeremy:] 

  Katherine Pierce : You can understand why I'm a little upset that I'm on the verge of being defeated by a sinus infection.

  [sniffles, groans] 

• Jeremy Gilbert : [after they ran]  Get in the truck and drive.

  [heads back] 

  Katherine Pierce : Where are you going?

  Jeremy Gilbert : I can't leave Matt.

  Katherine Pierce : [so annoyed, she's sputtering]  How do you think I survived for five hundred years? It wasn't because I was a vampire. It's because I never looked back. Don't be dumb. Survive.

  Jeremy Gilbert : That's why people treat you like an object and not like a person.

  [runs back to go help Matt as she considers this]
