This stop motion short film was created as a final project for the History of Animation course at The Art Institute of Tampa in Tampa, Florida, USA, which director Michael Horvath took during his freshman year in the university's Bachelor of Fine Arts program.
The scene of the Batmobile crashing into the Superdome and hurling to a stop at The Joker took over an hour to film.
When The Joker demands to know if the Batman is the driver of the Batmobile after it has crashed into the Superodme, Bond replies, "No, his movie wasen't the most popular of last year; 'Skyfall' was!", a joking reference to the fact that "Skyfall" received a higher box office gross and better critical reception compared to "The Dark Knight Rises".
The Joker references the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond film series while being raised into the overhead hovering chopper when he complains to Bond, "You just couldn't retire after 50 years, could you?! Dang it!!".
The concept was conceived based on the vague question, "who or what caused the Super Bowl blackout?"
