The theater was silent

Wow... I did not see that coming at all. I will reserve my judgment for the character decision until the end of the season, but I'm sure it will serve a good purpose. When Jesus went over to Thomas, I knew she wasn't going to be healed. I really like how this is portrayed because it happens to all of us in real life. Why doesn't Jesus just heal me? Why can't he fix this? My loved one died, why did it have to be now? Why can't they just be healed?

This episode really cut me open. Thomas' acting was superb and gut-wrenching. This show seems to be getting better and better.

I'm excited for the rest.

Wow! Did I not see this one coming.

This is a review of the first three episodes of The Chosen season 4 seen in a theater. The writing and the acting in this series is so outstanding. I love the way I was pulled into the whirlwind of the political power struggles especially in episode 3. The pressure palpable as the Pharisees and the Sadducees are so threatened by their loss of credibility with the people. Jesus (Jonathan Roumie) perfectly plays Jesus with indignant anger we love to see when the calls them out. The apostles are just beginning to see the stakes involved. The other political power play within the ranks of the Romans intersects and it all explodes with the unexpected death of an innocent beloved character. The writers masterfully intertwine the storylines as the viewer follows each of the players breathlessly through the chaotic crowd at the end until everything stops and the audience gasps. It seems that the apostles only now are starting to understand the cost of following the Son of God.

A reminder that this is a TV show...

Every single episode of The Chosen I've given a 9 or 10 rating for all seasons. I want to be clear that I believe this show and all that are a part of it are doing an incredible job. This episode, however, was a very strong reminder that this is a TV Show. The ending... and specifically the portrayal of Jesus' response to this fictional event... Ugh. It came across (to me) inconsistent with Jesus as seen in the Gospels for the first time in the series. I can see where the story arc is going, but...

I applaud the risk taken in the show... and I will always support this show. Some of the risks taken have been absolutely GREAT (and I mean absolutely great!). I just think this one didn't work. Creatively, I've taken risks like this as well and worried how it would be received or rejected. Always tough when it doesn't land. Yet I'm confident Dallas and others have a plan and will get this across the finish line. On to episode four!

Mostly great, slightly traumatic

Warning: Spoilers
I loved everything about this episode, loved Jesus standing up to the Pharisees. Love that passionate, rebellious, stir the pot Jesus. He is the Beautiful Outlaw.

HOWEVER, the plot device that happened at the end, which I understand is foreshadowing the suffering and sacrifice the apostles will face, was very hurtful to the fanbase. Since she was a disposable (not biblical) character they used one of the best, relatable and hopeful WOMEN characters to add emotional turmoil to the story. I understand why it was needed but very very very disappointed the writers chose to use HER. Please stop using the pain of women to further a story or pull audience emotional response. We are more than just pain and a sacrifice for men to be better. Jesus knew that, writers portraying his mission should understand that about Him too.
