Bring the tissues
pamvano30 November 2013
OK, so I am a softy when it comes to kids and furry animals. Stories of orphans (Annie, Oliver) particularly touch my heart and this story did too. I reached for the tissues only a few minutes into the film. I wanted to scoop up Sam and Booger right from the start. This family friendly little film drew me in and delighted. I found the characters charming and warm, although Booger (played by Falcor the Ferret)was a bit of a ham and "Dooked" over the other actors' lines. Seriously, bravo to the director for portraying a ferret without silly chipmunk squeaky sound effects. As a ferret breeder I appreciated the message at the very end encouraging people to research whether a ferret is the right pet for them.

A little boy and his ferret are looking for a forever home

"The Magic Ferret" lives up to it's title. It is truly a magical film. It is a great wholesome story for all ages. The acting is outstanding and if you didn't love ferrets before this, you will after seeing this movie. The story is about an sweet little boy named Sam and his adorable ferret Booger. The pair are up for adoption and hoping to find a forever home. Director Alison Parker has outdone herself with this movie. Both the acting and the script are great. The actors are both believable and lovable. I enjoyed this film tremendously and highly recommend it for all ages. This would make a great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer.

Wonderful tale of a child and his Best Friend
tartan_weaver30 November 2013
Director Alison Parker's newest short film endeavor "The Magic Ferret" takes us all back to our childhoods filled with both wonder and question. There is a little bit of Sam in all of us in his longing for a "forever home" acceptance and love. Booger (Falcor the ferret) reminds me so much of my own ferret, Gabriel, in his universal appeal to everyone, even non ferret owners. The emotions displayed are realistic. The choice of interiors was extremely good as it leaves the viewer wondering "What is this place?, Who lives here?" You'll fall in love with Sam and feel a relationship with all of the characters as they show us "ourselves". "The Magic Ferret" is a delight no matter your age. Highly recommend this film!

This could easily be the "teaser" to a feature film

Director Alison Parker has done it again...a wonderful short film that features a ferret! The cast is phenomenal and this 10+ minute short could easily be made into a full length feature. Jacob Tremblay is simply adorable as Sam...perfect for the part. I highly recommend this adorable family-friendly film to anyone who loves ferrets, or who might not be familiar with how wonderful these little pets are. Also of note is the great soundtrack which features Selena Gomez singing the 1970s hit "Magic"...perfect for the movie! Great job Alison Parker and cast and crew of THE MAGIC FERRET! The ONLY downside, and it's a small one, is that the feature is short and did not have Falcor the Ferret in as big of a role that he should have had.

Too cute for words!

OMG! Could you get any cuter kid then Jacob to be in this film? I don't think so! He and Falcor (the ferret) are wonderful together and truly make this the cutest short film I've seen in ages! OK, I'm partial to ferrets and anything that shows them in a good light but still it's an adorable film and Jacob is just too cute for words! I can't wait for my grandchildren to see this film!

Special thanks to Alison Parker for making this a reality for the ferret community and showing that ferrets truly are smart, loving, wonderful pets and great companions for the right person or family once you've done your research about them.

The story of a little boy named Sam who does a magic show with his pet ferret in the hope of being adopted.

Warning: Spoilers
"The Magic Ferret" is an excellent movie. Booger is so well trained and he makes everyone smile. Sam the little boy is just adorable as he interacts with his ferret Booger and the other cast members. You can tell that Sam is doing his best to be liked. Also that the prospective parents are just as nervous as Sam. Ms Parker has done a very good job of directing this movie. This movie will go in my favorites list. It has so much going for it. It catches your attention right away and keeps you wondering what will happen next. An excellent movie to buy for Christmas, birthdays or just because. Another movie directed by Ms Parker is "Jake & Jasper: A Ferret Tale"

Pure Magic

"The Magic Ferret" is a purely magical experience!! It is an absolute joy to meet six-year-old Sam and his companion Booger, an adorable little boy and his precious pet ferret who together, yearn to find a "forever home." Jacob Tremblay is a natural as Sam and Falcor the ferret nails the part of Booger. In an attempt to impress prospective adoptive parents, Sam transforms himself into the "Great Sambini" with Booger as his assistant. Beverley Elliot is wonderful as the compassionate and maternal Mrs. Rassenti. Fred Ewanuick and Lisa Durupt as Mr. & Mrs. Parker are fabulous as well! This is a feel-good film that is suitable for all ages and will give you warm fuzzies all over (and I don't just mean the ferret)! Kudos to Director Alison Parker on bringing a bit of magic into our lives!

A boy and his ferret seek love, acceptance, and a forever home

Director Alison Parker has done it again. The Magic Ferret is a delightfully entertaining and heart-warming tale about an orphan named Sam (played by Jacob Tremblay), and his ferret Booger (played by Falcor the Ferret). Watching the film, you can sense the bond between human and ferret. Falcor is his usual hammy but lovable self, and Jacob is so adorable you can't help but feel for his situation. The other actors round out the ensemble nicely. This is a definite must watch for viewers both young and old, and will be a favorite of many people. Kudos to everyone involved in making this film a reality. Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for this young and innovative director.
