- There are no nudity or obvious sex scenes shown in this movie. In one scene, a man unbuttons and takes off Carrie's shirt. Her bra is briefly visible.
- In one scene, Carrie at age 16 and her college professor are shown lying on the bed together, both fully covered by the blankets. It's implied they have been in a sexual relationship.
- There are also some verbal sexual references in scenes where the protagonist overhears a man discussing his sexual issues, and later raises this to her therapist.
- There are numerous conversations relating to why people have sex, the morality of extra-marital affairs, and a mention of a man's "award-winning tongue."
