At the beginning the date is given as "January 15th 2011, day 01". And yet everybody is enjoying the pool party and the plants are blooming. A very unlikely climate for Tennessee in winter.
In one of the scenes where Micheal goes into check on his daughter, he is wearing a bandage on his arm, and this take place well before the injury takes place in the film.
There are issues with the abbreviations of the dates. For instance The Narrative dates of January the "21st" and "22nd" are displayed as January the "21th" and the "22th" at the beginning of the respective segments of the movie.
The family moves in on "Day 1", (the first shots of the film) and the last day is marked "Day 15". All the dates given on the policeman's "chest cam" are show "documented" as January. However, when the mother's character confronts the father about the paranormal events and deaths that have happened, she shouts at him twice that they have been there for "ninety days".
A little over an hour in, the mother yells at the father that they have lived in the house for 90 days, while the film says they have lived there for two weeks. When she calls the priest the next day, she tells him that they have lived there a little over a week.
In the closing notation the daughter's last name is spelled Sawyer, but the mom's is misspelled Sawywer.
Throughout the movie the mothers name is "Janette Sawyer" but at the end of the movie she's named as "Martha Sawyer"
Despite the film taking place in Jan 2011, Brandon is using the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera, which was released in July 2012.
The film is set in Tennessee, yet there appear to be palm trees in the alley behind the family's new mountain home.
Although these videos were supposedly taped in January, there was green foliage and palm trees. There is no green in Tennessee in January save for the evergreen trees in the forest. Everything else is dead or brown.
