Incredibly heartwarming and so saddening,
amanda-mccallum10 October 2014
I'm not one to write reviews about shows I have watched. With that said, this show has compelled me to immediately write a review.

This show centers around a number of people who are terminally ill. They allow cameras to record their final stages of this life. The tone of the documentary series is sad, and beautiful all at once. You can't help but feel empathy for the subjects and their families. Many people are afraid of what's going to happen to them after they die. The process of dying, and the unknown, is all very frightening. These amazing people share their journey with us, and it is truly remarkable. I have cried during every episode. I'm not one for crying during movies, documentaries, or television shows. However, this was the exception. I could really empathize with the subjects and their families. I was holding my grandfathers hand when he took his last breath in hospice care and I know how much it hurts to lose someone. It's a feeling that has ultimately stuck with me; it's made me a stronger person. If you choose to watch this, please have tissues near by. it's a tear jerker, and it really makes you put your life into prospective.

Powerful and life affirming
loriprecious4 January 2014
I just got done watching a marathon viewing of all 6 episodes of Time of Death, a series my friend recommended. I was instantly hooked on this sensitive series about real people at the end of their life, the choices they make about treatment and how to die. It has the effect of lifting the veil of mystery around death--something we aren't very comfortable with in America. There will be a lot of people who won't or can't handle the powerful subject---and there are plenty of tears---but ultimately it was incredibly life affirming. The family that is featured is a beautiful bunch of people that you will root for and remember long after this series is over. Not that I'm wishing for more people to die, but since it is an inevitability, I hope there will be more episodes to come.

Not one of the best but THE best documentary ever

This is a powerful doc about love, life, and death! The director is raw and emotional about the sickness of her mother. She is absolutely phenomenal!!! I have watched this series four times and I am always looking for new work from her!!!

A look behind the curtain
hjschoors20 October 2020
In my personal experience, death is such an unknown. I know it's coming, and as the birthdays add up, the fact that I know so little about this inevitable event becomes more and more apparent. I only know death by what I see in movies. This documentary, and the families who so graciously allowed us to peek behind the curtain, helps shine a light on a transition that we all go through. What a gift to us all. I came away from this documentary looking at this step in life as a progression to transformation. Not an ending, but a becoming. Of what? Who knows. But I am grateful for the chance to watch others take that journey through this documentary, and I commend their families for bravely sharing their stories with us.

Astonishingly real!

Death happens to all of us...& it isn't pretty or nice. This series reflects the very personal decisions & emotions that surround the terminally ill & the loved ones they leave behind. We each deal with & accept death (or the impending death), in our own way - even amongst family members.

I appreciate that that series exists & although it is hard to watch, it is also good to watch and realize how individuals struggle with outcomes knowing we will be in their shoes one day.

Just as death is inevitable, so is the sun rising the following day.

Well documented & edited.

Incredibly moving

I've never reviewed anything but this series is totally gripping & moving. It shows what's inevitable for each & every one of us.... death. I think it takes some of the fear out of dying. Following the "Little " family was heartbreaking & hopeful all at the same time. The transformation & growth of this family was beautiful to watch. The older sister was an inspiration to watch .

Sad

Moving series about the process of death. Did an excellent job covering the feelings of families and patients. Very sad, but there will be a time we will have to face death. Helps you come to terms and gives me peace with the process. I pray for the families comfort and strength during their time of bereavement.

I really wish there were more seasons of this show. Something beautiful to see all the ways families deal with death and dying.

Interesting but...
tles727 December 2019
Interesting but exploitative and morbid to the point of being horrific/creepy. I wonder why anyone would take part in a series that compromises dying with dignity. Hence, when the interviewer asked a family member "Why didn't she want to die on camera". Well, you really had to ask this? Some of the families seem troubled in a trashy way but then I guess that makes for interesting stories. However, a reason to watch would be for Nicole Little...who as part of the long story, grows up in a way that will stay with you.
