if a blonde like THAT had to go through all of that stuff...

The big problem here is the supporting cast. I'm of course very, very pleased with Laura Vandervoort (to put it mildly) and I think that together with Greyston Holt they made one of the hottest couples on film. Well, potential couple, you know what I mean. It's the rest of the show that I'm not sure about. There is no zing, so there is no real involvement even when things happen on-screen. You have bad guys that appear so weak that the good guy hero seems like a bully. Elena even tosses that little guy Daniel Santos about. The bad guys seem poorly chosen and do not convey enough menace. Just like the stop-motion wolves in previous episode were nothing more than odd. And that Greg guy who plays Jeremy, major flaw, he is way too light-weight weak! It's a pity that was basically a highly workable idea seems to be doomed to being bogged down by shortcomings. The strongest point of the show is Laura Vandervoort and if only everything was as promising.

The character is, of course, superficially presented. We do not get to see or hear Elena's innermost feelings about having been turned into a sometimes-wolf. Remember how upset BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER was about her particular fate? Well, this blonde lady experiences getting turned into a hairy mammal that has fangs and claws and runs through the woods and rips into flesh and in her normal self, she is like, well, a recently graduated cheerleader with a passion for all things stylish. So, think of all the angst and turmoil that would haunt her in her life now. And reflect this in the story.

I am reminded of the Wolf Girl in ANGEL's final season, and there was such a lot of emotion there during her short tenure on the show.

In this episode, we learn some more back-story of Elena. She was one of Victor's victims. The lucky rabbit's foot that Victor sported in the previous episode, suddenly has chilling new meaning.

Very little nudity in this one. Laura's bare back. I dare say it was possibly never altered for American audiences, it is that tame. But the bedroom sequence was beautifully filmed, and Laura is just to dream about... (sigh)
