Weak 6/10...

This episode was written by J. Stewart Burns.

To me, Burns is a glass cannon. There's a zany streak to his writing, one that can work for the story's imaginativeness if kept under control. His first two writing contributions (Moe Baby Blues, Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind) were great. They showed a creativity that at most, stretched to the furthest corners of believability.

However, episodes like Days of Future Future are examples of the zany streak swelling out of control, smashing the cannon. Going so far with the eccentricity that it falls into tediousness.

In an episode that isn't a Treehouse of Horror, we have zombies, that Homer thing and humans mating with insectile aliens. (The weird cross-species affairs would be something that Burns used again later on. Weird fetish, much?)

The accumulative effect is something that doesn't feel outright bad-there are even brief bright moments-but for the most part, feels aggressively dull and even a bit of a drag.

So for me, I'll give it a bare 6/10, though 5.5 would be more accurate.

Another Great Episode Set in the Future,
lesleyharris3019 August 2014
Days of Future Future is a brilliant Simpsons episode with a very well written storyline and loads of very funny scenes. Is it once again another great Simpsons episode set in the future, recurring episodes that haven't disappointed me yet,I loved that it continued shortly after the events of Holdays of Future Passed (from Season 23),as we see Bart still getting over his ex-wife and Lisa still living with Milhouse, and I laughed so much at Homers constant deaths and then getting himself cloned by Professor Frink at the beginning of the episode.Days of Future Future is a great Simpsins episode and I hope to see more episodes set in the future of Springfield.

Bart tries to get over his ex-wife and Marge struggles with the constant cloning of Homer as we fast forward thirty years in to the future.

Days of future awesomeness

If you see this you will be amazed. that was a cool episode. It was one of the best episodes I watched on the Simpson's.

It was great. Because it tells you how homer died. And,it shows the future. This episode was WAY better than any other future episodes on the Simpsons. 9.1. It wasn't as good as Bart sells his soul. But,it was awesome. I'm surprised that they never done a future Sim-sanity Because there are a bunch of future episodes, well, that I don't like. I like this one. And it's awesome. And cool. Season 25 is a good season. But season 26 is getting bad. I hope you watch the episode. And,make sure to rate it!! And enjoy it!!!bye.

I love future episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
Omg this is what i call a Simpsons episode. Lots of fun and creativity. New subjects and cool character showing. I just love how Simpsons do it. Bart and his wife, Lisa and Millhouse, Homer who lives lots of lives, Moe tries to heat on Marge, and last but not least talking dog/cat.

Days of Future Disappointment
roche-leon815 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I try to never go into a new episode of The Simpsons with high expectations, for this reason episodes like "A Totally Fun Thing Bart Will Never Do Again" and "Holidays of Future Passed" really stood out even more to me. For the first time in nearly a decade I couldn't help but get my hopes up about this episode because "Holidays of Future Passed" is legitimately one of my favorite episodes ever and I would go so far as to say that I would put it alongside the fantastic company of "Homer Badman" or "Last Exit to Springfield". Unfortunately this was the most unworthy of follow ups, sacrificing interesting glimpses into the families future for recycled Futurama jokes. This episode also had a heavy reliance on pop culture references (as most of the new Simpsons episodes unfortunately have), it's boring attempts to parody films such as Total Recall and also basing one of it's subplots on Milhouse becoming a Zombie (Really? Why just why?) make this episode fall into the same groove that the Simpson's have been in for far too long "sometimes hits, but mostly misses". 3 out of 10 Zombie Milhouse and Robot Homer probably would have sounded great to 8 year old me, but present me just wants some sentimental moments sprinkled with classic Simpson's humor.

Worst Future Themed Episode
mikeyfranks6 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Considered as a sequel to "Holidays of Future Passed" (Overrated episode), this episode was quite similar to its predecessor albeit with some differences. Simply, this was just another ripoff episode. Worst future themed episode ever, if not the worst episode of Season 25 (18-present) or the Silver Age.
