"Mom, Murder & Me" tells the story of a young woman, whose mother stops by to visit her over her birthday when a series of strange murders begins to occur. Being the inequal team they are, they try everything to solve the case and overcome their fights over independency.
It is easy to criticize this film. The whole plot is more or less based on the stereotype of an overprotective mother with limited knowledge of the world. And indeed this is the weakness of this movie. I actually really enjoyed the mystery parts, I got interested in the case and even some of the humor wasn't as disturbing as others might describe it. But time and again you get the feeling that producers went for the easy laugh and that is a shame because had they taken their own plot more serious, this could have been a real pleasure to watch.
All in all I somwhow sympathize with this film even though it leaves a lot of room for improvement and criticism. As long as you don't expect too much from it, I think you can have a good time watching.
