"Lion" is a 19-minute live action short film from the UK that premiered back in 2014, so it is roughly 2.5 years old now. The writer and director is British filmmaker Simon P. Edwards and most of the cast come from the UK as well. The exception is American lead actor Ian Virgio. Most of the cast have solid experience in acting, especially Virgo, so I would not blame them for me not appreciating this one as much. The biggest problem is perhaps the (lack of) story that I found fairly brutal, even for such a brief film. The moments when Virgo was not making this a one-man movie basically were the ones that I enjoyed the most. The ending was good too and it explains the title, but it was not really good enough to let me forget all the mediocrity from before that. I personally give this one a thumbs-down and I don't recommend checking it out. I see some potential though in Edwards and if he steps things further up in the next year, I think he has a shot at becoming one of Britain's more known filmmakers one day.
