Sammy Hagar and Friends Annual Cabo Wabo Birthday Bash (2013)
**** (out of 4)
Fans of Sammy Hagar know all about his birthday bash's down at his Cabo Wabo bar and this here was recorded over a four-night period and features the former Van Halen member at his very best. I've seen Hagar live and in person and it's certainly one of the most fun shows you're ever going to see because it really does seem like the rock legend is there to cut loose, meet new friends and just party to some loud rock music. Everything great about a Hagar show is perfectly captured here because he's certainly in fine form vocally and there's never a second where he appears bored and just not into things. This is certainly an excellent concert to show someone who might not have seen Hagar but be warned, after watching it you're going to be wanting to see the real thing as soon as possible. Several big tracks are down including "Heavy Metal," "Why Can't This Be Love," "Poundcake," "Top of the World" and "There's Only One Way to Rock." All of these classics are done with a huge, loud blast that will certainly have you rocking along with the lead singer. The show was recorded extremely well and it also helps that the crowd is so into the show as they just add another level of energy. The audio is exception and those with a good sound system will certainly want to crank it up.
