Man on Fire is a great episode

I loved the flashbacks and that Enzo got a plot and took a spotlight here in the episode, it was a very good episode that manages to balance subplots and still progress its main story.

More reasons for writers to victimize the Damon character.
m-4782628 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Are we to overlook that Enzo went after Stefan, because he wanted to hurt Damon the way he hurt him, murdering his girlfriend? And what's with the double standards? So Stefan doing unspeakable things is unforgivable, until he repent for it? But Damon doing the same, gets a free pass, because he was just feeling sad and lonely? Give me a break! This travelers/doppelgänger thing is so convoluted and idiotic. They simply came to the same conclusion, they would've episodes ago. And knowing how the rest of the series unfolds, what was the point in Enzo dying and seeking revenge on the brothers? Even « Resident Evil » which I used to like, feels unnecessary and a way to push the false narrative even further. And honestly, who writes a scene where someone is decapitated in the town's meeting spot, without anyone noticing?...

The truth about the death of Enzo's love
vivianla17 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is about Enzo's love named Maggie when he was in the Augustine cells.

We see a flashback of Enzo looking so lovingly at Maggie as she scribbles on paper, sitting on a chair. She has the 60s look with curly hair and a skirt with blazer.

Enzo learns that Maggie was murdered. Her head was pulled off from her body. Enzo blames Stefan knowing he was a former Ripper. Enzo compels a bunch of people studying in Liv's restaurant to just watch silently. He ties up Stefan and Elena and wants Stefan to admit to the murder. Stefan says he was not a Ripper in the 60s.

Enzo calls Damon and Damon gets records from Sheriff Forbes. He remembers that he was the one who killed Maggie because she wanted to kill him.

Damon goes to the restaurant where he tells everyone he was the one who killed Maggie. Enzo takes Elena and leaves. Stefan finds Enzo with Elena and they fight. Stefan grabs Enzo's heart right after Enzo got gas all over him with a lighter ablaze. Enzo pulls back which rips his heart out, saying beforehand Damon would be more upset that Stefan killed his only friend.

Stefan decides not to tell Damon he killed Enzo and gets Elena and Bonnie on it. Enzo passes through Bonnie.
