Chicago – To begin with, Yvonne Elliman’s vocal stylings have appeared on albums that have sold 50 million units. The singer was discovered by Andrew Lloyd Webber for his seminal “Jesus Christ Superstar” rock opera (approximately 10 million albums sold), portraying Mary Magdelene, and also had a monster hit – “If I Can’t Have You” – on the legendary “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack (40 million sold).
The effusive Ms. Elliman was 17 years old, and singing in a London club in the late 1960s, when composer Andrew Lloyd Webber heard her ethereal voice, and signed her to portray Mary Magdalene in his new rock opera. The album of “Jesus Christ Superstar” was released in 1969, and took off like a rocket. Later, she joined the original Broadway cast of Superstar in 1971 in the same role, and finally completed the cycle as Mary M. with the 1973 film version, directed by Norman Jewison.

On the day Elvis Presley would have turned 84, NBC is marking the occasion by announcing performers for its “Elvis All-Star Tribute,” which will air on February 17 from 9-11 p.m. (Et/Pt).
A healthy mix of young stars and established names recreated the look and feel of the famed Elvis “’68 Comeback Special.” Complete with its “boxing ring without ropes” set on a Universal City soundstage, the special, hosted by Shelton, was taped last October before an invited audience. Ken Ehrlich produced and Don Was served as musical director.
With Ehrlich on board as producer for his own Aeg Ehrlich Ventures, the longtime Grammy guru leaned on his years of experience to match the right performer with the right song and come up with well-curated collaborations. Speaking to Variety, Ehrlich explains: “I was just listening to John Legend one day and thought, he’d be perfect for ‘A Little Less Conversation.

Since storming out of the gates with their first Ep six years ago, UK act the 1975 has thrown themselves into the sort of “biggest band in the world” chatter that defines the music press of their homeland. Their penchant for huge choruses and hyper-neurotic lyrics made tracks like “Chocolate” and “Love Me” leap out of radios; leader Matty Healy possesses the wiry energy of rock’s most beloved vocalists and the thinking-out-loud candor of the post-Livejournal generation.
But calling them a rock band would be a fool’s errand, and their third record,...

After proposing to on-again, off-again girlfriend Daniella Pick in the summer of 2017, the pair tied the knot on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Tarantino, 55, met 35-year-old Israeli singer and model Pick in 2009 while in Israel promoting his film Inglourious Basterds. They later broke up but reconnected in 2015 after the Kill Bill director split with his costume designer girlfriend Courtney Hoffman.
This wedding is the first for both of them. In 2009, Tarantino explained why he has never married before: “When I’m doing a movie, I’m not doing anything else. It’s all about the movie.

Nearly 75 years ago, in January 1944, Billboard magazine published its very first country chart, topped by pop crooner Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters trio’s bubbly version of a song called “Pistol Packin’ Mama.” On Thursday night, at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, that song played on the P.A. system to herald the onstage arrival of Pistol Annies, the irresistibly sassy trio comprised of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, who packed the sold-out show with traditional honky-tonk edged in swaggering rock & roll and laced with sweet gospel harmony.
