- John Major: Being interviewed by David was like relaxing in a warm bath... but being conscious that there's a cold shower overhead that could be turned on at any moment.
- [Michael Parkinson is interviewing David Frost on his chat show "Parkinson"]
- Michael Parkinson: What are the areas that you care *not* to be asked about?
- [David Frost grins]
- David Frost: Very good question. Isn't that a good question? Could I just make a note of that?
- [David Frost pulls out a pen and paper, and jots down the question for future use when he is interviewing anyone]
- John Birt: At our regular lunches I would, as friends do, chastise him and say "David, you're going to have to think about drawing a discreet and gentle end to your broadcasting career, and leading your life in a different way". And he'd say "No, no, no, no".
- Joan Bakewell: None of us want to give up. And one of the things I said to David recently "Are you going to give up?" And he said "No, are you?"
- Michael Grade: He was never going to retire. As long as there was work to be done, television cameras to appear in front of, he'd have been there.
- David Frost: Show me where there's a programme and I'll be there.
