- Grampa (Dann Seki) twists Tomi's wrist, forcing him to his knees.
- Keet shoves Jake (Benen Weir) to the ground. He grabs Tomi by the shirt collar, threatening him.
- During a mandatory blackout, Tomi briefly turns on a light in his family's house, to look for his sister's doll. Someone yells "No lights!" and there is a gunshot fired from outside.
- Tomi is forced by an FBI Agent (Howard Bishop) to kill his father's pigeons. He holds a bird in one hand, and with a kitchen knife, cuts the bird (off-camera). We see blood dripping on the ground.
- Keet shoves Tomi. Jake tries to intervene and Keet punches him. Jake wrestles Keet, throwing him to the ground.
- Tomi returns to his home (from Sand Island) at night. Mr. Wilson (Tom Holowach) hears noise outside his house. Frightened, he fires several shots with a pistol, into the darkness. Tomi escapes (unharmed).
- Keet points his .22 rifle at Tomi. He fires a warning shot towards Tomi's head. He strikes Tomi across the forehead with the butt of his rifle. Tomi grabs the rifle away from Keet, and twists his arm until Keet cries out.
Profanity

- Keet, and other characters, several times throughout the film, use the word "Jap," a racial slur referring to Japanese people (Tomi and his family). It is accurate for the time and place of the film.
- Grampa uses the word "kuso" which may be considered a Japanese swear word. In Japanese the word means "shit" (there are no sub-titles provided).
- Tomi, and later Billy (Kalama Epstein), use the expression "hana kuso face," slang for "booger face" or "snot face." In Japanese "hana kuso" means "nose shit," i.e. snot (there are no sub-titles provided).

- Tomi (Kyler Ki Sakamoto) is confronted by Keet (Bryce Moore) and two bullies. Keet threatens Tomi, jabbing a large knife near Tomi's face. Tomi fights the three boys, tripping one up with a leg swipe, and flipping Keet by the arm (this turns out to be a dream).
