fittingly fun and twisted

I've grown to really become a fan of Robert Morgan after having seen a few of his creative and creepy stop motion shorts. This is no where near the best of them, but it is certainly a fitting and enjoyable addition to his overall filmography. It is a more meta movie about "the dangers of stop motion animation". There is a dark sense of humour to it, as there often is in Morgan's films, and it is woven in to a gory and gross tale of horrific proportions. It's incredibly well done from a technical stand point, not only in terms of its wonderful stop motion animation, but also in terms of the general camerawork, lighting, editing, etc. An impressive and playful piece of short independent horror filmmaking.

Stop motion and horror

Warning: Spoilers
A neat mixture of stop-motion animation and live-action by Robert Morgan (Director of horror shorts such as "The Cat with Hands" and the beautifully grotesque "Bobby Yeah")

Like in most of his previous work, "Invocation" is quite impressive on the visual level, with some quite impressive visceral imagery which almost feel as something from a David Cronenberg film, with horrifying yet at the same time mesmerizing results: Honestly, very few filmmakers would be able to turn a simple teddy bear into something as nightmarish as the creature from this short film.

Definitely worth-watching.
