Short lived, too bad they didn't get a second season

Just found this on Netflix. Great concept, execution could have been a little better. The chef judges were a little too self important, like referees in the NFL, other than that the concept was fun, fresh and gave the viewer something other than the usual food shows focused on fatty, carb loaded dishes that are okay now and then, this show provided ways to eat well and stay healthy. Maybe Netflix can pick this one up. ;)

Confusing goals

I loved the idea of this show, but the judges act like it's MasterChef rather than a show about making it easy to eat healthier. The fast food replacement meals are pretentious and take way more skill, ingredients and work than people would realistically put into a snack. Especially if it's replacing something instant and gratuitous.

In one episode a judge says the guacamole is too predictable, even though the client loved it and knew it was something she could realistically stick to making for herself - which I thought was the whole point of the show.

Healthy Cook

Warning: Spoilers
I allways think about cooking Tv shows show us how unhealty we should eat. They use lots of sugar, wheat product, fried so many things, rice, patato, pasta, extremly sweet desserts with butter and oil, meat, lots of meat( we learned red meat is not good for health) . I know its classic way to cook but we know now that kind of cooking style is unhealthy. They should change it everything with more healthy way. So when i saw that show i felt happy, i thought i can learn many things and i can change more things in my eating habit. It was'nt like that besides couple of chefs they were all cooking again unhealthy food; patato, rice, white bread, maple syrup etc. They need to cut that carbs but they didnt. Another failier tv show.

Terrible in every way

TOP CHEF reruns were replaced by this show where I am visiting away from home and it is unwatchable. Besides Blaise shouting every sentence, they have this totally grating dietitian interjecting frequently with sage wisdom about food. She is constantly wrong. I find the title of the show to be crass and "tasteless." The producers should have known people who love these shows are educated, intelligent and appreciative of good food and good manners. The contestants are also the least interesting and least attractive compared to the participants in other shows. There are no top chefs or personalities and no one pretty to look at unless you think Blaise is attractive. Some guests cannot speak English and use slang. By the way, you made me change my spelling of dietitian but the form I used is still correct and still in the dictionary.

Not at all what it tries to be

Warning: Spoilers
This showed up on Netflix and the premise seemed interesting.

Looking here I see that it came out a few years ago and was short lived. It is obvious why.

In the first episode they are asked to create a healthy replacement for grilled cheese. Every contestants great idea is to serve up a grilled cheese , maybe with a bit of Kale thrown in, or whole grain bread instead of white.

REALLY? Then to top it off the congratulate them for the healthy recipes they have created.

At the beginning of the cook, they show the dish to be replaced with calories, protein, carbs, sugar etc. When done they might show calories and protein...but they don't do a direct comparison. The reason for this is that most of their healthy replacement are only marginally better at best.

The show is a few years behind in nutritional direction it seems, vilifying fat above all else, which is widely accepted as wrong at this point.

At one point someone is lauded for creativity of replacing a samosa by putting it top of a piece of bread instead of the deep fried wrapper. Like I said marginally better in the best case scenario.

It's too bad, as this could have been a good show with the right people around it.

Innovative and Different!

While this show isn't perfect in that it would be great if it was a blind taste test rather than the judges knowing what is in the food before they taste it and that the chefs/contestants don't always get a chance to find out what the "consumer" judge likes and dislikes, It's great to watch chefs go against the norm and not cook with heavy creams, salts, sugars etc and to have a consumer as a judge, not just "experts" is refreshing. The consumer often disagrees with the "experts" because of taste expectations of a substitute meal rather than something that a seasoned chef wouldn't consider "restaurant quality".

The name of the show is a great pun as the focus is a lot on the consumer judge losing weight. I'm also glad that it's not focused on everything looking perfect and the chefs/contestants are real chefs who have obviously spent a lot of time in the kitchen.

I hope that the previous reviews are trolls...
