A corpse found in a battle field park is identified as Lauren Frank. She was not reported missing by her wealthy industrialist father Steven Frank and mother Katharine, as instructed by her alleged kidnappers. The kidnappers had no reason to kill Lauren and are still demanding the ransom, ignoring she was found. Suspects, mainly due to opportunity, are the live-in housekeeper, her trainer and the dog-walker. While Sweets' profiling pays off, accidental poisoning proves the cause of death and a set-up is found out, Hodgins has his own family drama: lack of family trust funds reveals his parents secretly put his intelligent but gravely mentally-ill brother, whom he never knew about, in a closed institution. A fat editor's check exacerbates Booth's distress at his financial inequality.
