The first female-led film in leading Indian studio Yash Raj Films‘ (Yrf) spy universe has found its director in Shiv Rawail, Variety has learned.
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari (“Bunty Aur Babli 2”) will play super agents in the as-yet-untitled film. Rawail, who had previous stints as assistant director on Yash Raj Films productions “Dhoom 3,” starring Aamir Khan, and “Fan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, debuted as a director with the studio’s 2023 Netflix series “The Railway Men.” The four-part series deals with the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy and marks the first in a creative partnership between the streamer and Yrf.
“The Railway Men” debuted atop Netflix’s South Asian charts and at No. 8 on the streamer’s non-English TV Top 10. In its second week, the show stayed at No. 1 across South Asia and soared to third position in the global chart, where it remained for eight weeks. The cast is led...

"I am ugly" -- this was Shah Rukh Khan's reaction when he saw himself on the screen for the first time, and decided to ditch his plan to get into acting. The superstar says he still has a "hard time" believing his rise to fame, and says he doesn't think of himself as a "star".
"I don't want to show off but I am genuinely a dream come true. I am a lower middle class boy, an orphan, who got into the city of glamour, became a movie star and the world showered me with love. This only happens in dreams. I never thought of it, Shah Rukh said at an event here.

Actress Sayani Gupta loves the culture and cuisine of Thailand. Thai cuisine, she adds, is so much more than what most people believe it to be.
"Thai cuisine is so much more than what most people think. A wide range of regional cuisines from north to south, makes it nearly impossible to cover but the real fun is in trying to taste (and devour) as much as you can," Sayani said.
"There is something truly extraordinary about waking up with the ocean at your doorstep. I couldn't have found a more peaceful, and breathtaking home in Koh Samui. Nothing beats uninterrupted views and pool access," added the actress.
During her recent Thai vacation, Sayani stayed in Airbnb properties.
"My home in Bangkok, was Zen central. It was a peaceful haven, amidst the city. Loved the minimalist design and soothing pallet - less is always more," she said.

If the flop-ridden Hindi film industry had its hopes pinned on the new Shah Rukh Khan starrer for salvation, then it’s time to unpin those hopes.
Imtiaz Ali’s eagerly awaited Jab Harry Met Sejal is a lengthy lumbering, baggy and pointless love story….as lengthy, lumbering, etc, as his earlier Tamasha where two grown-up individuals behaved like a bratty unpleasant couple on a reality-show pretending to be people they were not.
Just imagine if Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone met again in an exotic land and decided to play….ummm…. a cranky closet-misogynist tourist guide and a fast-taking vacuous but charming Gujarati tourist.
Fun, no?
Well, no. Not really. Shah Rukh’s Harry with his unabashed cheesiness and ‘cheapness’ plays his part with an arrogant aplomb that seems borrowed from his superstar persona of Aryan Khanna in Maneesh Sharma’s Fan. Here is a man who will do what he wants,...

It’s been less than a year since the last Star Wars Celebration unleashed itself upon London, but the semi-annual event is now poised to descend on Orlando for four more days of wall-to-wall “Star Wars” action and announcements. This year’s event will likely be even more celebratory than usual, focused on the 40th anniversary of the release of “Star Wars: A New Hope” and the ever-expanding franchise, now kitted out with a brand new trilogy and the promise of still more anthology films.
For fans of the saga, Celebration consistently provides a ton of news (from trailers and other footage to casting announcements and teases about new projects to come) and serves as a harbinger of things to come for a franchise still going through major changes. Ahead, we scope out five big ways that Celebration will impact both the “Star Wars” franchise and its very dedicated fanbase.

"Prepare the Sistine Chapel."
Move over, "Release the Kraken" – there's a new godlike command in town, and its word is law. (Jude Law, to be precise.) With this order, Pope Pius Xiii and The Young Pope alike begin their greatest triumph: an address to the Cardinals delivered in full papal regalia, towering tiara and all. The fact that the Holy Father gets his gear on in a full-fledged dress-up montage soundtracked by Lmfao's "Sexy and I Know It" doesn't undercut the totalitarian coming-out party that follows; if anything, it enhances it.

A poster for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film “Raees,” on which the actor glowers behind kohl-rimmed eyes, features the phrase “Apna time shuru”: “My time begins.” It could very well be a slogan for where Khan’s own career stands today, even as 2017 marks his 25th year in the movies.
Portraying antagonist Raees Aslam — believed to be loosely based on real-life gangster Abdul Latif (a rumor that the filmmakers have denied) — is, in a way, coming full circle. In the early 1990s, after stints in theater and television, Khan got a taste of big-screen success in what Bollywood refers to as “negative roles”: a vendetta-fueled murderer in “Baazigar,” love-struck stalkers in both “Darr” and “Anjaam.” These were characters that fellow young actors at the time would have considered professional suicide. For Khan, they were a foot further into the door of a world he had until then been an outsider to.

Every actress who takes her first step in Bollywood has one desire that she wishes to fulfill in her entire journey of acting career. And that is to get a chance to work with the King of Romance Shah Rukh Khan in a movie. But there are a very few occasions when the King Khan himself mentions that he desires to work with a new comer. And Pooja Hegde lived one such moment in her life when she recently won the award for this year's Best Female Debut at an award function in Mumbai. "Shah Rukh Khan took to stage and mentioned how he'd seen her film recently and thought Pooja's performance was very impactful and she showed tremendous promise in her first film. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan seems to have grown restless in 2016. He's already released two films this year; the meta action thriller Fan, in which he plays a ficitonalized version of himself being stalked by a crazed fan who is also played by him, and Dear Zindagi, in which he plays a therapist to the twenty-something ennui Alia Bhatt. He's showing no signs of slowing with his next feature, Raees, already one of my most anticipated films of 2017. While Fan was a bit of a serious turn for Srk in terms of his attempt to differntiate the two characters in a realistic way (he nearly succeeded), in Raees he looks to be going full Bollywood. This trailer shows Khan as Raees Alam, an...

Will Raees clash with Kaabil on 26th January 2017? Or will it instead release on a different date and arrive solo? While suspense around this would be broken in a few days from now, one just hopes that a decision is taken soon. It would be heartbreaking if the clash indeed takes place because the kind of stature that Shah Rukh Khan enjoys as a superstar, he deserves nothing but the best.
Why? Well, here are the Top 5 reasons!
1. As per insiders, Raees is a fantastic entertainer in the offering. The final product has come out really well and as an action drama, the film has a lot to offer to the audience. When it hits the screens, it warrants undivided attention from the audience with absolutely nothing else as a distraction
2. It is about time that Shah Rukh Khan hits a huge six now. He has scored a couple of double centuries already (Chennai Express,...

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6, we boarded the Nautilus with Killian Jones, and learned about his less than pleasant run in with Captain Nemo and his first mate Liam.
Did anyone call for an awkward and violent half-brother reunion?
Below, TV Fanatics Caralynn Lippo, Allison Nichols, Steve Ford, and Robin Harry, along with Once Upon a Fan's Teresa Martin, share their views on the Evil Queen's relationship with Henry and Rumple, the new plan for the shears, and more from "Dark Waters."
Does the Evil Queen really care about Henry, or is she just manipulating him to get what she wants?
Caralynn: It's tough to say. We do know, based on Hyde's relationship with Mary, that the evil halves are actually capable of feeling love/other positive emotions. I think it's likely that Eq does care about Henry, but she also wouldn't hesitate to manipulate him to get what she needs.

October 31st is Halloween, when kids (of all ages) dress up to go trick-or-treating. Then, of course, there are the cool adults getting in on the costume fun to go to Halloween parties. Since we are all Bollywood buffs, okay fanatics, we thought it would be fun to poll our writers to see who they would love to dress up if we had a Bollywood Halloween – Bollyween Ball. Boy oh boy were we flooded with amazing and inventive ideas.
Some of these costumes you could probably put together easily. However, some might need extra help from family, tailors, costume designers, stylists, costume engineers and even Oscar winning makeup artist Greg Canoom (transformed Srk in Fan and Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire)!!
Check out how the excellent team of BollySpice would celebrate Halloween Bolly-ish style.

The 300 crore plus juggernaut of Yash Raj Films’ epic blockbuster Sultan has won hearts and minds in South Korea. Screened at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival, often dubbed as Asia’s own Cannes, the film was screened at the Open Cinema Section, to a magnificent turn out. It made tremendous impact with its universal story of the ups and downs of a classic underdog. A sports film around wrestling, audiences found the film easy to relate to for it’s values and core message.
Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar was overwhelmed by the warm response to the film. This was the second screening for Sultan at Busan, with the first screening also drawing in wide interactivity from a local audience of movie lovers and peers. Speaking here, he said, ‘Sultan’ is a sports film, but it is also talking about all of other things. It’s talking about the husband-wife relationship,...

Salman Khan's Eid release has created havoc at the box office. The immediate casualty is Irrfan Khan starrer Madaari which was to open next week, on July 15.
