The sergeant major is desperate to break the long line of utterly humiliating defeats with fitting loser punishments in the annual charity football match against the Marines team. The Army rear unit finally have a shot, as Pete has a great quarterback record, but an Afghan front shoulder shrapnel wound proves cruelly disabling, so he must train his ultimate losers team. Hell-bent on seducing a young mother, Derrick keeps making impossible promises to her and goes way overboard by suggesting he can make come true her angelic son Sam's ultimate birthday wish: the safe, early repatriation from Afghanistan of his daddy. Randy can only contribute groundless enthusiasm and the CO laughs the idea away, until Pete suggests it could be a PR coup, out-staging the Marines in the public's eyes.
