Manipulation is the Word Here ****
edwagreen15 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Despite the continuing annoying appearance of Melanie Griffith as his mother, we had a very good episode here.

A male schoolteacher father is shot to death and his 16 year old daughter is supposedly kidnapped in this episode. Through excellent detective work, it is determined that the girl set the whole thing up in an attempt to collect her father's hefty insurance policy. How she manipulated her vulnerable boyfriend was not to be believed. As soon as they're cornered by police, she runs out of the car abandoning him, as an awful fate awaits him.

Tom Berenger, looking so much older, is excellent in the one scene that he appears as Danny's father. He looked like he could be Griffith's father. Hopefully, their reuniting shall bring an end to her in the series. She is totally miscast.

Steve Finds Out More Info on Shelbourne

Warning: Spoilers
And it goes to his own mother Doris. And how that Doris keeps on disappearing frustrating her son even more and more there.

As Jerry again may have found a purpose in his life besides being a conspiracy theorist there. He deciphers the code there.

Danny tries to prevent his parents from splitting up. Tom Berenger makes a cameo as the producers failed at expanding his role there.

Frenetic camera work distracts from the execution of the story
cpotato101015 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The constant movement of the camera during most of the in-car and chase scenes was very distracting. It is usually an indication that the real action is not good enough.

Also, the execution of the story is weak. There is no real interaction between the boyfriend and girlfriend that would leave you to believe he would kill her father for her.

It is also a little unbelievable that the boyfriend would rush the police holding a gun, although not pointing it at them.

The best part of this underwhelming story is the end, where the daughter finds out all her deception was for nothing.

Btw, the goof about the stolen car door being closed is not really a goof. When the boyfriend is leaning into the car, and is pulled out by the car's owner, the girlfriend is by the front fender of the car. She then comes forward, closing the car door, to help her boyfriend. The poor camera work obscurs this motion.

A more important goof - as the boyfriend is driving, with McGarrett chasing them, he further opens the cowling around the steering wheel and cuts some wires. This is intended to disable the car's brake lights. But the brake light wires have no reason to be running along the steering wheel.

Why does the media hate women?
hthbrr216 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS!

I am so sick and tired of the scapegoating of women in the media in general. This episode is a prime example of it.

They make the girl kill her father for money? What? It makes no sense. She was already living a good life. What exactly was she going to do? What?

The female motivations in this show really make no sense.

In the same ep, Danno's mother complains that her husband IGNORES HER. So what does Danno do? Set up a date between them, where his father TELLS HER THAT HE VALUES HIS JOB MORE THAN HER! And what, she randomly gets back with him??? WHAT??? #$%&*#@$%^&#@!

This show seems to be written by only men. And in these sick twisted writers minds women LIKE being insulted and told they are garbage, and to SHUT THEIR MOUTHS, and that EVERYTHING IS THEIR FAULT. WOW.

POINT BLANK Danno's father told his soon to be ex wife that he values his job more than her. NOT ONCE did he talk about why he ignored her, or even apologize...wow this show is so sexist against women.

The worst was the labeling of the TEEN girl at the end as pure evil...wow. You know, there are MEN AND WOMEN that are THIS WAY. Funny how they always PLACE BLAME on the WOMEN!!!!

Also ALL women have to be trim, half naked, & on full display in H50. But then men; no. They are basically always dressed and a good number of them are fat, or even morbidly obese...sexist much? Sure there are some scenes where men are shown half naked, but these are few and far between. Sex sells but do they not know that half the world's population likes to look at half naked men instead of women? Where are the overweight women? No where to be found, more sexism and double standards.

Can we stop catering to sexist men? This show used to be at least watchable. But it has take a turn for the worst. They are turning to desperate measures as objectifying women and being sexist in general. What about plot, story, character development? No, these all take a back seat to half naked teen girls. When will the media grow up?

No wonder this show was left to die on Friday nights....yet they still are going down the same path EVEN THOUGH the few fans this show has are calling foul...wow how more ignorant can you get?
