I am binge watching Rizzoli and Isles during the 2020 pandemic. I have never forgotten sobbing through this perfect episode in 2014. I watched it again tonight and found that I sobbed through it again. Lee Thompson Young's suicide at 29 broke my heart then and it still does. I also will really miss Frost, again. The writing and acting in this tribute to a lovely young man is simply perfect.

Wow. First time I saw this episode

Warning: Spoilers
I thought I had viewed the entire series, but had not seen this one. It was such a great tribute to the young man. It also revealed the very best of the actors who were superb. I feel so deeply for someone who reaches a point that nothing seems better than ending it all. I tried ending it 15 years ago and I fully intended to not see another day. I finally have gotten a combination of three antidepressants that work for me. I tried many medications and went through terrible times until the last 3 years. I have had people tell me how selfish suicide is or tell me I am nothing special because I attempted it. People can be so harsh. I have compassion for all sorts of human conditions but especially those who were driven to attempt suicide. We need each other and gain strength if we have loving people around us! Peace folks!

Death with Dignity

It took courage to write an episode that didn't trivialize Lee Thompson Young's death, or worse, tried to pretend it never happened. We all die, yet most of are terrified by just the thought of death. Rather than face that fear, we never think or talk about it. 'Goodbye' faced death head-on; it was moving, heartfelt and a lovely tribute to a lovely man.

Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep, by Mary Elizabeth Frye:

Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep, I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle Autumn rain

When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quite birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry I am not there, I did not die.

Well done

Warning: Spoilers
This show sometimes falls into the Grade B Guilty Pleasure category of television, but this is a superior episode for the way it handled the death of Lee Thompson Young. The main crime story was a good one, but the best—and worst—part for me was the funeral for Frost. It was apparent to me that no tears were made of glycerine, and no Vapo-Rub had been applied to eyelids to induce crying. The eulogy delivered by Jane seemed to me to be genuinely heartfelt, and everything she said could have applied as easily to Mr. Young as to his character. The actors did a much better job controlling their emotions than I could have, then they were both tough and vulnerable enough to share their real feelings with the audience. I'm impressed.

Poignant Episode

I can only imagine how hard it was to produce this episode. It was beautifully written because it was real grief. Every time I watch it I cry. Especially at the end. R. I. P.

Warning: Spoilers
That Rizzoli receiving a postcard from Frost was a goof. As I understood the storyline, Frost was on vacation.
