Strong episode that's building towards the second series climax
snoozejonc4 February 2021
The Jennings' learn that the FBI know Emmet and Leanne's were KGB.

I enjoyed this one for how it builds up the tension for what feels like will be a dramatic finish to the second series.

It is fairly plot-driven with the stealth technology in focus, along with Larrick's revenge mission and Nina's predicament. There feels like a lot of intrigue around the question of who was responsible for the murder presented in the first episode and no obvious answer.

There is a bit of time for some character development with Nina, Stan, Sandra, Elizabeth and Paige having some quite interesting moments. Incidentally the previous reviewer of this episode obviously has never suffered the sometimes powerful trappings of white knight syndrome, which can happen to the best of us. Interestingly we have not learned the full story of Stan's past which could shed some more light on his emotional state.

As ever all actors are excellent, particularly Noah Emmerich and Susan Misner who portray a crumbling marriage with incredible realism. There is also an excellent guest appearance from Zeljko Ivanek, who very believably portrays someone who is suffering.

For me it is an 8.5/10 but I round upwards.

Good series but questionable believeability factor

This isn't specifically about this episode but about the series as a whole. I am getting hooked on this series, but the biggest flaw I see with it is the 'relationship' between Beeman and Nina. It isn't believable. He is a top FBI agent, and he's actually falling for this silly little Russian girl? She isn't that pretty or appealing, so why is he willing to risk everything for her? Maybe he is just playing a game, but it's frustrating to see him blow up his marriage and possibly career over someone who is obviously playing him.
