Very strong episode with massive implications for the future of the Jennings family
snoozejonc6 February 2021
The Jennings' receive some disturbing information about the KGB's future plans, whilst Stan makes an important decision.

This is a very strong finish to the second series that wraps up the stories and brilliantly hooks you in for the ongoing show narrative.

There is virtually nothing I can say about plot details without spoiling. It's safe to say that not only are the big questions answered, but larger and more disturbing questions are asked, that compel you to watch the next series. The writing is very clever, as always, containing parallels between people, interesting character development and substantial amount or irony.

All performances are brilliant with Noah Emmerich, Matthew Rhys, Owen Campbell, John Carroll Lynch and Holly Taylor particularly good.

The cinematography and editing is as strong as ever with some excellent visual story telling, particularly in the scenes involving Stan and Nina.

I had mixed feelings on scoring it. I was largely able to guess what happens in the two main plots, but bowled over by the final ten or so minutes that put an entirely different perspective on life for the Jennings. Looking back at the season as a whole and I can see the relevance of all the character development leading to these scenes. The writing is methodical and I am now questioning the 'why' on everything, wondering what it might mean for the direction of the show.

I laughed out loud at the reviewer who gave it 1/10. Some of the things presented on screen are obviously taken literally by some people.

Not perfect, but almost, so I'm giving it 9.5/10 and round upwards.

one strong episode.

Warning: Spoilers
One strong episode. Agent Beeman had to deal with the honey pot trap. Agent Beeman decided not to betray his country. A dream subliminally answered his question of what Nina really was. The Jennings barely survived the Navy Seal and a question is answered about the other agents' son. Why did he survive? I love how the The K G B wants the agents' children. The Jennings Phil and Liz will have a split on how to raise their children. A new sub-plot for next season! Well written and directed Echo has a mix of spy games with 80's nostalgia. I love the mix of the Golden Earring song with the episode action. A rock video/ Miami Vice cultural theme. Eight out of ten stars!

---- Spoilers season 2 ----

I think that was the stupidest series finale I have ever seen. Maybe the problem was that I "binge-watched" it but this whole story about the Navy seal who comes back and destroys almost everything the KGB has in and around DC, without any help during the last few episodes was totally forced and idiotic. The guy in the cellar with the telephones and his destruct button which didn't destroy anything. idiotic. So this Seal guy did in two weeks what the CiA and the FBI couldn't do in 20 years ! *sighs* And this Jared plot was absurd, too. So he killed his parents because the KGB told him he could become an agent and his KGB super spy parents wouldn't let him (which is already pretty stupid) so he killed his family ?! Oh and really, anybody was surprised that agent Stan "the bee" Beeman, Mister good American wouldn't betray the US and A, really ?! If I could I would give a minus rating. And to see that this episode got 8.9 on IMDb is clearly a sign for the downfall of western civilization. Epic Fail ! (Well, I have to admit I laughed through the last 15 minutes, which was nice :)
