When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement in 2017, everything seemed fine as the public had no idea there was any trouble brewing behind the scenes. But then years later came numerous reports that there was drama behind closed doors.
Meghan and her future sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton), clashed during a bridesmaid dress fitting. And Harry and Prince William reportedly had bouts over the younger prince’s decision to marry the former Suits star. In Harry’s memoir Spare, he said that there was also some friction with his father, now-King Charles, about paying for Meghan’s wardrobe and other expenses.
Now, a new book is revisiting that topic and how Charles even suggesting that he wasn’t going to pay for Meghan left the Duke of Sussex “infuriated.”

Michael J. Fox, who’s lived with Parkinson’s disease for more than 30 years, told CBS News that he’s always dealing with depression. But, he noted, he still finds ways to stay positive.
The “Back to the Future” and “Family Ties” actor was asked by “CBS Mornings” cohost Nate Burleson if he ever has moments where he battles depression or uncertainty.
“Yesterday at 3:57 in the afternoon,” Fox, 62, darkly quipped. “I mean, always.”
Parkinson’s is a progressive brain disorder that affects both movement and speech. Fox was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991 at 29 years old. There is no cure.
“The positivity is really sincere. I really feel it, and it’s genuine” Fox said. “But it’s hard-fought, and it’s hard won, I should say. This fear, we can find ways to just give ourselves a break, give ourselves credit for getting through life, on life’s terms.

Saturday Night Live departed from its usual cold open with a heartfelt message from Pete Davidson about Israel’s war with Hamas.
Davidson opened by discussing the “horrible images” from Israel and Gaza and related it to his own tragedy, of losing his father when he was a child on 9/11 – Davidson’s father, Scott Davidson, was a New York City firefighter who was killed at the World Trade Center.
“I know what you’re thinking, who better to comment on it than Pete Davidson? Well, in a lot of ways, I am a good person to talk about it because when I was seven years old my dad was killed in a terrorist attack. So, I know something about what that’s like.”
He pointed to the “terrible pictures” of children suffering this week and said “no one in this world deserves to suffer like that”.

Despite what Anthony Michael Hall's Tommy Doyle wants you to believe, evil doesn't always die tonight. Most times, it lives to be rebooted over and over again.
After forever changing the horror landscape and delivering a rather inconsistent series of movies, "Halloween" returned once again in 2018. David Gordon Green rebooted the franchise with the awkwardly titled "Halloween" and its sequels, which promised to deliver the ultimate, final confrontation between Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode. Green's reboot trilogy followed an older Laurie, who struggles to cope with the trauma of the horrific attack she experienced 40 years prior at the hands of the silent masked killer Michael, as well as the toll it took on her family. The trilogy also explored the impact Michael has on the larger Haddonfield community upon his return (prompting them to seek mob justice), in addition to the notion of an heir to Michael's evil.

Remember how saying Betelgeuse's name in "Beetlejuice" three times allows you to summon Michel Keaton's titular freelance bio-exorcist? It turns out a similar rule applies to the sequel to director Tim Burton's 1988 supernatural comedy classic. After plans for a follow-up titled "Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian" were abandoned in the early 1990s, a second go was made at reviving the project with writer Seth Grahame-Smith. That iteration also fell apart, which may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you feel about Grahame-Smith and Burton's big screen re-imagining of the bizarre cult soap opera "Dark Shadows."
Warner Bros. finally succeeded in its third attempt at getting "Beetlejuice 2" off the ground, pairing Burton, Keaton, and the other returning "Beetlejuice" cast members with Burton's "Wednesday" star Jenna Ortega and creators/writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The film was making steady progress, too, at least until the dual...

Imagine being a young actor and getting a role in a feature film. It's a sci-fi adventure, and you're going to be the lead. You get all packed up and get on a plane to London to shoot, but when you get there, no one seems to care very much that you're around. That was the case for Mark Hamill, who was heading to the United Kingdom to play Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope," which was simply "Star Wars" back then.
In the 2013 book "The Making of Star Wars: (Enhanced Edition)" by J.W. Rinzler (an upgraded version of the 2007 book of the same name), Hamill spoke about what it was like to head over there, all ready to go, and the odd situation he walked into that he didn't know anything about. That day was his first meeting with George Lucas and producer Gary Kurtz.

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "The Witcher" and the source material.
In Netflix's adaptation of the megapopular "Witcher" saga, Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) has come a long way from being a timid girl unaware of her true potential and power. Three seasons in, Yen symbolizes the epitome of the flawed sensibilities that come with unbridled power -- while she is susceptible to moral missteps, she is never let off easy for her actions and actively takes the onus to do better. The roots of her character stem from Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Witcher" novel series, where Yen is a blunt, no-nonsense sorcerer who shields her tenderness with tough cynicism. Once we get to know her heart, it is clear that Yen is loyal to the core, and she's willing to do anything for the loves she loves. Chalotra's rendition is true to this core aspect, despite several...

This post contains spoilers for Netflix's "The Witcher."
"The Witcher" might be undergoing some major changes with its third season, but you didn't think the show would be without some deranged eldritch beasts, did you? Netflix's Henry Cavill-led fantasy drama is bidding adieu to its star, who'll soon be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the role of Geralt of Rivia in season 4. Meanwhile, Ciri (Freya Allan) will face her biggest choice yet as part of season 3, volume 2, in an event that's sure to fundamentally change the child of Elder Blood going forward. In fact, Ciri will be the main character in "The Witcher" after season 3, according to executive producers Steve Gaub and Tomek Baginsk.
With all these changes going on, you might expect the writers to be focused more on story and setting up season 4, but this is still "The Witcher," and you can't have "The Witcher" without some good old-fashioned monster hunting.

More than a year after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian writers, directors and producers are well on their way to freeing the country’s television industry from its historic dependence on their large Eastern neighbor.
Before the war, cross-border cooperation had been the rule, with some of Ukraine’s biggest producers active in Russia, and its biggest stars household names in Moscow. Kyiv’s top TV talents often looked to Russian backers to bankroll their most ambitious projects, and to Russian viewers — in a country of 143 million, compared to Ukraine’s 43 million — to provide the bulk of their audience base.

Law Roach admits he was “hurt” after finding out what his former client, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, recently said about him.
The celebrity stylist, who announced his retirement in a since-deleted Instagram post last week, addressed the actress’ “sample-sized” remarks she made at Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in a new interview with New York Magazine‘s The Cut.
Earlier this month, Chopra, 40, spoke with Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke about working with an undisclosed stylist who made her cry over not being “sample-sized,” which is a size 2. The “Citadel” star said she was “hurt” by the “difficult to hear” observation that was made just one day before the festival.

Note: This article contains major spoilers for "Shadow and Bone" season 2 and Leigh Bardugo's novel "Ruin and Rising."
The very premise of Netflix's "Shadow and Bone" series is the fight between good and evil, i.e. the Sun Summoner Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li) and the Shadow Summoner General Kirigan/The Darkling/Aleksander Morozova (Ben Barnes). In the small screen adaptation of Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse novels, the once-great country of Ravka has been torn into two by a swath of impenetrable darkness, and Alina must save the people from the Darkling, a malevolent figure who plans to use her power and harness it while enslaving everyone with total darkness (save for those who give in to him "willingly").
At the end of season 1, we see Alina move closer to realizing her full potential as the Sun Summoner when she channels the power of the stag amplifier fused to her body,...

Robert Townsend looks back on his debut film, "Hollywood Shuffle," with a major sense of fondness. By all accounts, it was a struggle to get off the ground — Townsend notoriously maxed out a handful of credit cards to fund the two-and-a-half-year shoot, and the story itself was born from Townsend's frustrating beginnings as a Black actor. But he quickly decided to take that frustration and spin it into an opportunity. "We were just being bad boys and just having fun," Townsend says now of the experience. "I just felt it was funny. I felt like we wanted to say something."
The intervening years have definitely been kind to Townsend, and to the film he co-wrote with Keenen Ivory Wayans. The duo's scathing critiques take on a new form in a series of sharp, ingenious comedy sketches. From a Siskel & Ebert-style chat show to a remix of classic noirs like "The Maltese Falcon,...

Director Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 has officially received a late 2024 release date.
Scott announced in 2018 that he was planning a follow-up to his original 2000 box office hit Gladiator, which starred Russell Crowe as Roman soldier Maximus. That film followed Maximus as he was forced into slavery and vowed to exact revenge against his betrayer Commodus, portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix.
Now, nearly four years later, the sequel is reportedly scheduled for release in theatres on 22 November 2024, according to Variety.
As the end of Gladiator showed Maximus’s demise, Russell will not return for the sequel. The actor also recently confirmed this on an episode of the Fitzy and Wippa podcast.
Instead, the story will focus on Lucius, the son of Maximus’s lover Lucilla -- portrayed by Connie Nielsen.
Aftersun’s Paul Mescal is in negotiations to lead as Lucias, Variety reports.

Facebook and Instagram’s parent company Meta announced this week that twice-impeached former president Donald Trump will be reinstated on both platforms, after a two-year suspension.
“The Daily Show” guest host Wanda Sykes was not at all surprised, saying that it’s just a money-grabbing stunt.
In their announcement on Wednesday, Meta stated that “the public should be able to hear what their politicians are saying — the good, the bad and the ugly — so that they can make informed choices at the ballot box.” And to that, Wanda Sykes said “Phooey!”

Warner Bros. Discovery U.K. has commissioned 149 hours of new and returning lifestyle shows in the U.K.
The programs include “The Big Body Clinic,” “The Edinburgh Auction House” and “Charlotte Church’s Dream Build,” and will air on Discovery’s stable of U.K. linear channels. They will also be made available on streaming service Discovery+.
The sheer volume of unscripted commissions for Warner Bros. Discovery’s linear channels in the U.K. sends a clear signal that the unscripted pipeline for the combined Discovery+ and HBO Max platform — when it does eventually launch — will largely stem from the Discovery side of operations.
Discovery+ launched in the U.K. in November 2020, but HBO Max has yet to roll out, due to the legacy output deal between HBO and Sky, which sews up the vast majority of HBO and some HBO Max content for Sky channels and its SVOD service Now TV.

The effect is all encompassing, not just for filmmakers & entertainers, but for politicians (George H.W Bush, Al Franken), and the civilians who consume them, too. The influence is so sweeping that, come the 40th Denver Film Festival, a Toback story derailed an interview organized between the cast and crew of the feature film Infinity Baby, that was held in a small corner of the city’s Civic Center.

Hey, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. We just found a new report from the folks over at USA Today which reveals that our main star Ellen Pompeo aka Meredith Grey (above) told them about a not-so-pleasant experience she had earlier in her career. This experience sounds pretty shocking and intense because it has to do with director James Toback. Toback is the same guy that Ellen's castmate Caterina Scorsone aka Amelia Shepherd accused of serious sexual harassment advances. Additionally, Toback has been accused of sexual harassment by more than 30 women. Ellen revealed that she's been more fortunate than these other poor ladies, but she did admit to having her own unpleasant run-in with Toback. Apparently, her encounter with him got to the point where she felt the need to tell him to go f@#ck himself! She stated, "I actually did have a situation with James Toback where I kind of told...

Of all the TV creators I've met over the years, two have consistently stood out as the most challenging to interview: David Chase and Shonda Rhimes. There's never been any hostility, but they stand apart from their showrunner brethren in their insistence on answering only the questions they want to answer, and only if it's asked in a way they find acceptable. Many showrunners have learned the PR trick of responding to a question they don't like by answering a different question altogether, but Rhimes and Chase will simply announce their disagreement with the premise of the question, or their lack of interest in answering it. (Chase, for instance, hates to explain the meaning of any one "Sopranos" scene or episode too much, while Rhimes all but shuts down whenever she's asked about either upcoming storylines or her legacy as an African-American female producer.) Here’s a conspiracy worthy of the Initiative: Revenge‘s story might not be entirely over just yet. … Maybe.
RelatedRevenge Series Finale: Nick Wechsler Recalls ‘Nightmare’ Boat Scene, Jack’s ‘Weird’ Wedding Speech and More
Though the ABC drama wrapped its four-season run in May, there had long been speculation that it might live on in another form — partially due to the spinoff-worthy nature of Nolan’s ending, but also because of Kingmakers, a drama pilot from Revenge producer Sallie Patrick.

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 12, “The Black Widow”
Written by Harley Peyton & Robert Engels
Directed by Caleb Deschanel
Originally aired January 12, 1991 on ABC
“Wine comes in at the mouth, love comes in at the eye;
I hold my glass to my lips, I look at you and sigh …”
Twin Peaks without David Lynch is certainly not the same, but it’s impossible to completely lose the magic. Watching these season two episodes can sometimes feel like one is consistently making excuses, forgiving this scene and that scene and placing them within the proper context for it to go down a little easier. The truth is that so much of the series still works, even as it tries to work against all that it has built by, say, giving James his own storyline.

A sequel to Super Troopers has been on the cards ever since the first outing floored audiences back in 2001. Now, the Broken Lizard crew are promising to deliver Super Troopers 2 with 20th Century Fox locked in to distribute. The small snag? The studio needs to know that fans Really want it, so the $2 million required to produce to the feature will be acquired through crowdfunding. An Indiegogo campaign has since gone live, offering fans perks and incentives for donating to the movie’s budget.
If that fixed amount isn’t reached – the movie will not go into production. If the campaign secures the $2 million and up, production will commence and a slew of bigger sequences will be incorporated into the movie. Judging by the array of wild and wacky incentives on offer, it won’t be long until the target is reached and cameras start rolling.

Pre-credit sequence. No Collar returns to camp after dispatching with Vince. Nobody's especially sure what happened, at least nobody other than Will, who screwed up the split-voting plan and also screwed up his chances of being trusted by anybody else. With new understanding, Joe is less grateful that Will booted his nemesis and more distrustful of a new nemesis. Will says he's playing chess, not checkers, which is irrelevant, because what he's actually supposed to be playing here is "Survivor." Nina announces that she knows she's the next one out. Once again, she's feeling like an outsider and once again she wants everybody to know that she's feeling like an outsider. She just asks people not to whisper behind her back. "Enjoy yourself, Nina!" Jenn instructs her, with the most half-hearted pep talk imaginable. We know how Jenn really feels about Nina anyway and it isn't especially attractive. "I get it.

Five weeks after it unveiled a quintet of fresh pilots and asked for feedback from its viewers, Amazon Studios has green-lit two new shows. It has announced full seasons of psychological drama Hand of God and 80s period comedy Red Oaks. Hand of God will be the third hour long series Amazon has picked up. Directed by Marc Forster, it stars Ron Perlman as a corrupt judge. Red Oaks, meanwhile, provides much lighter fare. Produced by Steven Soderbergh and directed by David Gordon Green, it is a coming-of-age story set at a country club in the 80s. The cast includes a number of familiar faces, including Paul Reiser and Richard Kind. "We are excited to get working on full seasons of Hand of God and Red Oaks," said Roy Price, VP of Amazon Studios, in a release. "These shows come from some of the most talented creators in the business.
