The Irreverent Humor of Triumph...plus more
atlasmb2 March 2015
If you are familiar with Triumph and his style of humor, then this show will be no surprise. It is filled with irreverent humor aimed at his costars, other actors, and even the studio audience.

Expect anything in this no-holds-barred comedy. Breaking the fourth wall. Revealing the audience during a skit. Even including washed up has-beens like Paul Rudd and Michael Winslow (I keed, I keed!).

The plot of the pilot establishes the premise of the show: A young man and his insulting dog live with an elderly lady who can dish it as well as she can take it. The second episode pokes fun at "hipsters" and anyone else who dares enter a scene with Triumph.

You will like this show if you think Lawrence Olivier was one of the great screen talents...for me to poop on! Seriously, though, remember this is adult humor and should not be watched by those under age 18 or anyone who might have participated in community government in Alaska. I keed! Enjoy it...if you dare!

sometimes funny

Warning: Spoilers
Jack Mlicki (Jack McBrayer) was the star of a TV show called Triumph's Boy. It lasted 11 seasons. The former child star and Triumph (Robert Smigel) party hard. Jack loses all his money which was squandered by his parents. He gets whored out by Triumph. With nowhere to go, they go and live with TV-mother June Gregory (June Squibb). She abandons Triumph in the woods but he works his way back to Jack.

It's weird. It's outlandish. It's silly. It's stupid. McBrayer and Triumph sometimes do bits on the streets for Conan. June Squibb has a sassy sense of humor. This could work but it mostly doesn't. The main section is a spoof of a network TV show with the artificial set and a live audience. It is not that funny despite some outrageous humor. The laugh track is loud. It's either part of the spoof or a bad part of the sitcom. The best parts remain the unscripted bits that McBrayer and Triumph do with unsuspecting people. This is a weird experiment. I admire the attempt but it's not always good.

Has its moments

Triumph is an acquired taste but it's a taste I enjoy. It's partially scripted and partially improv and seeing people Nearly break as he berated them is pretty funny. The slapstick with Triumph and his long paw is comedy gold and the celebrity guest stars are always a welcome addition.

This is one of the funniest shows ever. I don't understand how Triumph isn't the biggest celebrity in the world.

Luv the insults
cekadah26 February 2015
A friend told me about this as I had not heard of it. So I looked it up and was surprised by so many 'critics' negative comments on other websites.

This is a low budget insult comedy program on a cable channel --- what do the critics want? We have Triumph (a rubber puppet dog) and his silly family. It's all about the insults the story is secondary. It's sort of like the Jack & Triumph version of Mamma's Family! You just gotta go with it and enjoy.

I luved it and will be watching again! The insults were fired off fast and furious - as only Triumph can do. I hope they can keep up the goofy silliness that made the first show so funny.

------------- To date (Mar 29, 2015) I have watched all six episodes of Jack & Triumph and I have luved every one of them!!

I always like triumph. I Love this show.

I've been a big fan of triumph, been watching his videos ever since a friend told me about him from YouTube. I like his comedy although they were insulting. I always like triumph, his jokes are hilarious and very funny. I don't know how he comes up with that jokes. But they crack more than expected. I love triumph, looking for more episodes and more fun. Please add more characters so that show will look more delightful. I recommend to this everyone who likes comedy who has no preference on some genre. For all the haters it is fictional, so whether you like it or not triumph is the best. The Fourth and Fifth Episodes are most enjoyable to me. I feel a bit sad because this is not a daily show. I wish they air everyday in upcoming days. Thank you triumph, thank you for your jokes and making me laugh.

Great if you are retarded AND tripping on LSD
carloshebdo27 February 2015
An annoying "canned laughs" soundtrack runs every 2-3 seconds, indicating the pun of numerous infantile 'jokes'. Expect Mostly scatological and sexual references +attempts+ at humor. Expect monkey-on-drugs scripts. The sets appear to be surprisingly decent for a show of such low quality. -Curiously I noticed no homosexual humor references, which Jack McBrayer just begs for. IMHO, this show is another in a series of Adult Swim blunders, exerting enormous effort to sink and drown themselves .

People say laugh is infectious, this show proves the contrary. Unless you have the mind of a 9 yr old or happen to be tripping balls.

I am sure crack/meth heads will give it 2 thumbs up.

Finally! Something Good On Adult Swim Not Related to Hannah Barbera
verbusen1 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the first episode and liked the second episode a lot also. It's the team from Conan's show with an old fat woman added in who is great. I can't complain at all since I'm a Triumph fan. I mean, there seem to be a lot of haters on IMDb (if you look at the message board for people too lazy to add a review) but the overall score of the show is above 7 so that's really good. What are the alternatives on Adult Swim? They go to Satan worship a lot, or Christian bashing, or red neck bashing, or bashing baby boomer cartoons (that's always funny but repetitive after a decade plus). This is one show that did what I wrote about before, bash some hipsters, and they did a little. I'm on-board. Throw in some S word profanity (I wonder if that is pushing the limit? And if not why the other AS shows have not used it yet?) Some T&A, some gay bashing, liberal bashing, Hollywood bashing, I hope the show pays off for them! It's funny! Oh and it has some animal humor (cats) in it also, reminiscent of TV Funhouse which I LOVED! If you have never seen the 2 part TV Funhouse with Robert Goulet you have to watch it, totally hilarious! Good luck with the show and ratings! I'm giving it a 10.

Trashy!!
cousinpeso26 February 2015
Not that anyone expected anything better, but this show is the same insensitive tripe that Adult Swim has been regurgitating all over Cartoon Network's late hours for years. I'm ridiculously disappointed that Jack McBrayer is part of this (I am a huge fan of his voice acting performances in Wreck-It Ralph and Wander Over Yonder) and I can only hope that this was a decision he made out of desperation or because his manager made him. Here's to praying that this show doesn't make it past the first painful season and we can all pretend that it never happened. PS, when is someone going to tell Adult Swim that their raunchy humor isn't funny?
