At the end of the episode, Jane suggests "Bee Keeping" as a retirement option to Lisbon. Sherlock Holmes took up "Bee Keeping" after his retirement.
Jane suggests to Col. Raymond that Napoleon said that "No plan survives the first shot". Napoleon may have said that, but the first recorded similar utterance was by Helmuth von Moltke, head of the Prussian/German army through much of the nineteenth century, who is noted as having said (in translation) that no plan survives the first contact with the enemy.
Older viewers will recognize that the house exterior of Col. Raymond home was the same house used as the home of the Stephens in the show Bewitched. This was on the back lot of Screen Gems which was used for a number of TV shows in the 1960's before being acquired by Warner Brothers. To the left of the house was the home of Gidget. Behind the camera was a long street; the first house on it was the home of Mrs. Kravitz from Bewitched. Decades later (after considerable remodeling) it became the home of the Hecks in The Middle. Further up the street was the home of Major Nelson in I Dream Of Jeanie, the Bumstead home in Blondie, and eventually the Stone family home in The Donna Reed Show. Across the street from these homes is a large park with a water fountain that became famous when used for the opening credits of Friends.
This was the last of five episodes of this show directed by Simon Baker.
