- Sir Malcolm returns to find a new evil hunting Vanessa.
- At the Mariner's Inn, Ethan Chandler awakes from another of his blackouts to find those that those who threatened him are all dead. He joins Vanessa for a carriage ride to tell her about the blackouts - he has no idea what happens to him - and what he normally finds when he awakens. He's decided to leave London but before he can even finish his story, the carriage is attacked by three female creatures. Vanessa is clearly their target but she and Ethan survive with only minor injuries. Sir Malcolm Murray returns and she tells him the creatures spoke the Verbis Diabo, a dead language known as the word of the devil which according to legend is the language Adam spoke in Eden after the devil tempted him. Vanessa says the women were Nightcomers, witches. Meanwhile, Dr. Victor Frankenstein is now ready to reanimate Brona Croft and needs only for the weather to cooperate. The Creature finds a job at Putney's Family Waxworks where the owner, Oscar Putney, is working on his latest tableau, the Mariner's Inn Massacre. Elsewhere, police Inspector Rusk investigates the murders at the inn.—garykmcd
- The season opens with Vanessa walking in the snow. She begins to hear a family voice speaking a strange language. She drops to her knees.
Ethan wakes up confused, covered in blood, and surveys the carnage inside the inn. He finds Vanessa and they take a carriage ride together. He needs to leave London before hurts her or anyone else. He tells her about having blackouts and that "there's usually blood." The carriage is attacked by several female monsters who are trying to capture Vanessa. They are able to fight them off, though their driver and horse are killed.
We then check in with Victor, who is working on creating his Brona monster for Caliban. She is placed in some water, with the next step being to wait for a storm. Victor wants to know if Caliban will leave him alone if he's successful.
Later a very shaken Vanessa tells Ethan she knows what tried to attack them, but refuses to tell him more.
While standing at their children's graves, Malcolm's wife tells him she doesn't want anything more to do with him. They'll remain married, but she wants him to stay in London. She blames him for their death.
Caliban is finding that employment opportunities are in short supply. He spots a sign at Putney's Family Waxworks and inquires within. The owner is working on a Chamber of Crime, recreating scenes of murder, and needs help. The business is struggling. Caliban is interested but needs to return that night to meet the owner's wife. He's currently working on the 'Mariner's Inn Massacre.'
We cut directly to the actual inn crime scene and learn via conversation between investigators that there was a survivor.
Ethan returns and is told that Vanessa didn't leave the home all day. He tells Sembene he's surprised to see her frightened of anything.
Victor speaks to Brona's body then starts to touch it in an almost sexual way. He's interrupted by Sembene knocking on the door and telling Victor "you are needed."
Caliban officially signs to become an employee of the waxworks. He is introduced to the couple's daughter, Lavinia, who is blind. He reluctantly allows her to touch his face but she doesn't seem bothered by it in any way. When Caliban leaves we hear that Putney thinks this new employee will "make our fortune."
Malcolm returns to London and Vanessa collapses in his arms at the door. He is informed about the creatures Evan and Vanessa encountered. She tells Malcolm they had the marks of the devil, making them must more concerning than the creatures they faced before. Vanessa says they spoke the devil's language, the one spoken by Adam after the temptation. Malcolm thinks they should try and find a way to understand the language in order to protect Vanessa. Vanessa says the creatures were "Nightcomers," or witches.
We cut to a tall creepy tower. We see the witches are serving a woman they call Mother. She is concerned that Vanessa is being protected by something powerful. It sounds as if her goal is to bring Vanessa to her master, the devil. She cuts the throat of the witch who failed her at the carriage.
Ethan tells Malcolm he plans to stay with him to help protect Vanessa.
Victor return home just as a storm begins. Caliban is already there. The preparations are made. A huge bolt of lightning strikes Victor's machine, shooting Caliban across the room. It works. Brona rises to her feet in the tub.
Vanessa knees in front of a cross and draws a design on the floor using her own blood. Simultaneously the Witch Mother is praying to Lucifer, promising she'll get Vanessa for him. We cut back and forth between the two prayers.
