Jane in Bosnia
Hitchcoc29 October 2015
Jane goes international to investigate a man who is probably responsible for genocide in Bosnia. Against the orders of Scotland Yard and the London hierarchy, she ends up in Bosnia, looking into war atrocities. In the previous episode we finished with the murder of the second of two young women, sisters who had escaped death in their home country. Tennison feels great responsibility. The prime suspect confesses to both murders, but it is obvious to Jane that he did not commit the first one. She suspects an optician who served as an interpreter during the initial interrogation. This all leads to some big time risk and the possibility of career ending failure. Each of these shows has gotten into some aspect of society that often is ignored. Here we have immigrants who have been denied rights and treated as second class citizens and who live in terror of their pasts. It also has to do with the Muslim population and how they are viewed. This is quite a well done episode with little sugar coating.
