Certainly not one of the best episodes, but definitively not one of the worst!

Warning: Spoilers
OK, so might be considered one of those filler episodes. I have been a Supernatural fan from day one, and have religiously watch every episode to date. I really like the arc episodes, but I have to admit that I love the "monster of the week" ones too. AS a matter of fact, some of the most hilarious and original ones, at least for me have been the independent episodes.

I think that this week's episode is a good one. The werewolf theme has been touched now and then, but I think is an attractive one, and is a nice break from all the demon vs. angel battle story. What I enjoyed most about this episode was how the case was used an excuse to deal with the present situation/relationship between Sam and Dean. So in that sense it wasn't a totally unconnected episode with the previous ones. And although the story was somehow predictable, it fitted nicely with the brothers' issues. There were some nice conversations. The first one, when they are both having a beer sitting in front of the lake, like a regular family or couple of friends of a Sunday afternoon, was priceless, specially the Dean's jokes on Sam's broken arm.

Summing up, a very enjoyable episode that I wouldn't mind watching again. So give it a go!

Unfinished business
rich-fouts31 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Kate's previous getaway represented unfinished business so I thought it was great that they brought her back. Adding her sister created a very interesting storyline ( beautifully played by Emily Tennant). And Kate escapes for the second, third, fourth time ? She's crafty. Hopefully she'll be back (perhaps with Cole).

Girl is so annoying
danajs2414 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I like the werewolf cure move. Good idea Dean. I hated those girls however. They both sucked. I have no idea why they would bring back this stupid girl from a terrible episode in the first place? She also looks way froggier in the face than she did in the last episode. I wish they would have outright killed her or something so there was no shot she would return, because that could be disastrous. They need to stop trying to force young adults into the show, because those episodes are almost always terrible. Also, the rule of one episode per type of monster is still holding true, as this was like the 5th centering on dumb werewolves.

Another one
shwetafabm1 July 2020
This is another sibling vs sibling ep. There are just too many used to tie up to the main plot of tge brothers. So when it is done there is no novelty to it. I didn't really care much for anything happening. Tho my fault i was looking at spn memes while watching this ep, only ep i have done the thing where you watch it terribly, so my rating might not be fair. I did like the bitten ep a lot actually.

One of the better werewolf episodes
CubsandCulture23 September 2020
I am a big fan of the prior season's "Bitten" and I am glad the show brought Kate back. This episode is the first really separate side story in this season given that is mostly about Kate's choices. In fact strictly speaking she is the protagonist in this story. While there is some parallelism to the Winchester-siblings fights!-it is mostly an anthology episode that I wish the later years did more of. (Season 1-3 managed to a lot of these of types but they have gotten rarer as the show has gone on). Kate is a great character and there is a touching pathos to the final couple of story beats here. Add in that the brothers finally try to lie to each other all the time to create drama and this is a refreshing change of pace.

An okay episode
wolfordcheyenne25 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was an okay episode. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I was wondering if we'd see Kate again and here's my answer. The plot had the potential to be good, but the execution poor. I like the idea of two sisters at odds with each other, as it mirrors Sam and Dean. I also liked how Kate owned up to her responsible at the end and realized she had to kill her sister. The episode needed a more memorable feel.

A Filler Episode: An Honest Review from a Longtime Fan
serbian_00728 October 2014
I love Supernatural. Supernatural overall is 10/10 for sure, but this episode doesn't deserve anything more than a pass, and this comes from someone who's been with the show from the beginning. I get that fillers sometimes happen in a show that runs for 10 years, especially one with almost 200 episodes.

This was clearly a filler episode no matter what you say. You have to be delusional to give this episode a 10 out of 10. I mean, come on, with all the great shows that are on TV right now (e.g. the Walking Dead), how can you even consider giving this filler episode where nothing happens a 10? This episode doesn't even come close to being anywhere near as exciting as some of the great shows on TV right now.

Don't get me wrong, the episode wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. The only important scenes are the conversations with Sam and Dean which take up less than 10 minutes of screen time all together. The problem is the choice of plot. I mean, does anyone really care about that werewolf chick who happens to be a character from one of the worst episodes of the show's history (yeah, that crappy one filmed with shaky hands and a hand-held camera)? I know I don't. I mean, seriously. Why don't they revisit interesting characters like that one Anti-Christ Kid from Season 5 who once turned Castiel into a doll? What ever happened to that kid? Gee, wouldn't it be cool to make a follow-up episode about him? What about Cain? The Men of Letters? Yeah, anything but some random werewolf chick, even if her story is supposed to "parallel" Sam and Dean's.

One more thing. Since when did Supernatural become a soap opera? Is this Supernatural or the Day's of our Lives? I can't quite put my finger on it, but I have been having this feeling for a while now that I can't quite shake telling me that the show has lately been focusing TOO MUCH on awkward emotions and feelings between Sam and Dean. IT SEEMS AS IF EVERY SINGLE EPISODE I WATCH LATELY IS ONLY ABOUT CATTY EMOTIONS AND PETTY ARGUMENTS, and I don't want that. That's not what made Supernatural great in the past and it will not make it better in the future. When I watch an episode I want to feel fear, I want to feel excitement, I want an adrenaline rush, I want to be shocked, I want to be mesmerized, I want it to stick with me and to feel like I'm in that world. I just didn't get any of that from episode 4. Although the last three episodes were much better, I have to be honest and say that Season 10 so far hasn't lived up to expectations and has generally been on the whole VERY anti-climactic.

Awesome show, not so good episode. I hope the season gets better.

SPN is My Favorite Show of ALL Time and Season 10 Sucks
bmacoms111 November 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I own every episode of SPN on my ATV and have watched them all many, many times. I consider myself a TRUE fan. My mom and I watch the show together every week and it has been such a treat to share with her. Jeremy Carver breathed new life into SPN when he took over Season 8 but he is now sucking the life out of the show with Season 10. PaperMoon was horrible, boring, poorly cast, predictable, contrived, and just plain irritating. I was insulted as a loyal fan that such crap was given to us in what should be a stellar season. I can say that Demon Dean and Crowley are all that are interesting this season and they go and "cure" Dean in an anticlimactic way in 3 episodes which was so sloppy it was maddening. We all know he's not cured but did you have to do the blood purification ritual so wrong that any idiot knew it didn't really work? Cole is a total bore. I get the character and how he is kind of Dean who is fighting a demon who killed his father and that kind of makes sense but at times I could not even understand what Cole was saying. Now let's talk about Castiel and Hannah - BORING, BORING, BORING. I am so sick of the lame angel story but I do love CASTIEL - I just hate the way the writers have been treating him since Season 7. The ratings for Papermoon were 1.93 mm viewers the last time I checked and that is not a good sign. Supernatural grew it's viewer ship over the past 2 seasons and was one of the few shows that increased the amount it charged for advertising but if they keep giving us the low quality Season 10 has produced so far that won't last. Writers quit being so freaking lazy and predictable. Take some notes from the writing on Sleepy Hollow and the special effects from Constantine who has FAR scarier demons. SPN has almost made demons cartoon characters and Hell is like an amusement park. The mythology is dying and I blame Jeremy Carver. Hell is supposed to be scary as Hell and it's just not anymore - the demons are all ridiculous. I love this show and want it to go on and on and on. I'm sure many people will tell me to stop watching instead of being so critical but I am so critical because I love the show so much. Ben Edlund if you are reading this please come back and rescue this franchise. Note to Jeremy Carver - try A lot harder and maybe get rid of some of the crappy writers and bring in some fresh energy.

Werewolves again...
nightshiftee14 January 2024
99% of the series is nice to watch and makes a lot of fun. The demon and angel stories are the bigger pieces and I love every bit of it. It's what makes this series so attracting for me. I get there is other stuff to touch but it's always vampires or werewolves, sometimes shapeshifters, ghosts or djinns.

What's up with that? There is so much they could come up with as something new and exciting but it's always the same type of monster.

Some of these filler episodes are really fun and those with Charlie for example one of the best.

But I wouldn't mind if they focused solely on the main plots, as the other episodes are the weakest.
