Donald Trump reportedly was offered the part of the president in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No but it didn’t pan out as he actually ran for the role as America’s commander-in-chief. Had he done so, it’s not hard to imagine that he would have made the list of worst fictional occupants of the White House.

Filmmakers have not always had an easy time of creating such a character, falling into the trap of overacting, but sometimes it’s not the actor’s fault, as they are given stilted and clichéd dialog and just plain absurd situations. Other times things are just … off. In other situations, producers try just a bit too hard to make the president an amalgamation of a real-life figure.

This post contains spoilers for the "Sharknado" franchise.
Why is the "Sharknado" franchise still culturally relevant? Well, for starters, the appeal of the stupidly entertaining combination of the words "shark" and "tornado" has come together to create a string of unforgettable movies with progressively ridiculous narratives. Moreover, all the "Sharknado" films are defined by a conscious "so bad that it's good" factor, with a deliberate bend towards schlocky exaggeration meant to be humorous and baffling.
The premise of the first "Sharknado" film is extremely simple: a tornado ravages Los Angeles, which floods the city, causing man-eating sharks to make their way into land. A group of survivors try their utmost to outlive this catastrophe, as they need to figure out a way to evade the sharks while steering clear of the aftereffects of the tornado. Even with this rather fat-fetched premise, this could have been a serious survival drama — thankfully,...

Universal Studios is reportedly now looking to build a theme park in the UK, with a site acquired in Bedford. More here.
Universal Studios is arguably one of the most iconic theme parks in the world. It has developed rides based on a plethora of productions over the years, from The Simpsons to Jaws, Fast And Furious, E.T, Jurassic Park and The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter. It’s a veritable cornucopia of cinematic fun.
The Orlando Park has itself been used as a location in several films, including Bring It On: In It To Win It and, perhaps most notably, Sharknado 3.

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the first Sharknado, and so far celebrations have included a screening on legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs’ Shudder series The Last Drive-In and an all-day Sharknado franchise marathon on Syfy. If that wasn’t enough, The Asylum has now announced that they’ll be giving the movie a two-day theatrical re-release on August 15th and 16th! A new, Barbie-inspired poster has been created to promote this theatrical re-release, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article. The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive first look at the poster.
Sharknado has been “fully remastered with hundreds of new special effects” for this event. The trailer for the re-release, which you can watch in the embed above, promises this version of the movie will deliver new kills, new thrills, more sharks, and more ‘nado.

Somehow ten years have already passed since the first Sharknado made its way out into the world – and as if being featured on legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs’ Shudder series The Last Drive-In recently wasn’t already enough of an honor, Syfy has now announced they’ll be celebrating the tenth anniversary of Sharknado with an all-day Sharknado movie marathon!
Ten years ago, a global phenomenon swept the country with the birth of the greatest franchise about sharks and tornadoes that ever existed. Starring Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, Sharknado follows a group of friends who try to save the world from theses deadly storms chomping through the skies. Syfy presents an all-day Sharknado movie marathon in celebration of the cult-classic’s 10th anniversary. Revisit fin-tastic stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, along with guest stars Vivica A. Before I get to the actual review of Galaxy Games a little bit of background is in order. While looking up writer/director Ben Carland’s other credits I noticed he was credited with a film from 2021 called Sol Invictus, which is the actual name of the games the characters are competing in.
Checking it out, it’s obviously the same film, but with user reviews dating back to 2013. A further bit of searching found a couple of articles, including this one, dating back to 2011. So rather than a new movie, this is an eleven-year-old film that’s been released under a couple of titles, Sol and Sol Invictus already.
After a voiceover hyping the games to prospective participants and explaining them to us, we’re dumped on a beach where...

Four mystery celebrities hit the stage on Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer.” Team Good was represented by Armadillo and Ringmaster, Team Bad sent out Hydra and Team Cuddly risked Miss Teddy. Everyone tried their best, but ultimately it was the three-headed Hydra that lost all of his heads after singing “Sharp Dressed Man” by Zz Top. Only guest panelist Nicole Byer correctly guessed legendary magicians and comedians Penn & Teller were hiding inside!

If ever there was a cult horror franchise to ramp up the escapism at the expense of reality, it’s Sharknado.
The six-part saga initially whipped up a storm back in 2013 with a premise so bizarre – so bat-shit insane – that it demanded attention: Sharknado is a “made-for-television sci-fi disaster film about a waterspout that lifts sharks out of the ocean and deposits them in Los Angeles.”
With each new installment, things got progressively more insane, as Sharknado‘s writing team tossed in time travel, dinosaurs, and chainsaw-wielding heroes, culminating in the launch of Sharknado 6, the final entry in this most bizarre of franchises.
And this weekend, you’ll be able to revisit Sharknado from the very beginning. Because whether you’re a series newcomer or a life-long apologist fan, Syfy has announced an all-day movie marathon. It kicks off at precisely 8am Est on Sunday, April 5th, and the...

It looks the sharp-toothed winds of Sharknado are about to come to an end. Syfy has greenlit a sixth and final installment of the campy sci-fi horror franchise, Deadline has confirmed.
The yet-to-be-titled sequel will bring back Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo, and Vivica A. Fox. Five-time Sharknado helmer Anthony C. Ferrante will be back in the director’s chair for the grand finale.
In Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, we last saw Finn (Ziering) walking the Earth all by his lonesome after it has been destroyed. The sixth movie will have him traveling back in time to stop the first Sharknado that ushered in this cult franchise.
The Sharknado movement started in 2013 and has since garnered a rabid cult fanbase on social media that ate up all of the franchise’s B-movie glory. The first movie was followed by Sharknado 2: The Second One, which was a series-best reeling in 3.9 million viewers.

Mortuary Massacre is a new anthology style horror from writer and director Chris J. Miller, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Friday 26th January. I got chance to ask Chris about how the anthology came together, undertaking multiple role to get the film finished and overcoming several obstacles to get the film finished.
What can we expect from Mortuary Massacre?
Hopefully a bloody good time! It’s an anthology in the vein of the Amicus films, Body Bags (1993) or Creepshow (1982). So, expect a lot of practical makeup effects, some T & A, cannibalism, facial skinning, and even a Nazi zombie shows up to say hello.
How did the ideas for Mortuary Massacre come together as an anthology?
Back in 2011, my writing partner Sean Stearley and I wanted to make a film about a zombie cowboy, but we could never get past the 30-page mark, so...

Since its first installment premiered on July 11, 2013, the Sharknado franchise has become practically invaluable to Syfy — but while the budget for each film has gotten bigger, the wage gap between female lead Tara Reid and her male costar Ian Ziering has reportedly remained the same.

2017-08-02T08:52:14-07:00Trump Was Going to Play the President in 'Sharknado'
In January 2015, two years before he was sworn in as president, Donald Trump was set to step into the same role in a very different capacity: He had signed on to play the president in 2015's Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
Producers' first choice to play the leader of the free world in the Washington, D.C.-set disaster film was Sarah Palin, but negotiations with the former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee had fallen through. That's when Ian Ziering, the gung-ho star of the schlocky Syfy franchise, had the inspiration to capitalize on the special relationship he'd developed with Trump while taping Celebrity Apprentice (Ziering made it as far as the penultimate task). His reality TV boss would make a good commander in chief, he reasoned. An offer went out.

Everyone knows the Sharknado formula back to front by now. There is a tornado full of sharks that, for whatever reason, seems hellbent on destroying our stocks of awkwardly self-parodying, Z-list nearly-celebrities. The only people who can stop them are two or three people who were relatively famous a quarter of a century ago. Throw in a lukewarm mugful of basement-bin, so-bad-it’s-bad irony and, bingo, that’s your Sharknado. And your Sharknado 2: The Second One. And your Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! And your Sharknado: The 4th Awakens.

I seriously can't believe that there is going to be fifth Sharknado film. SyFy and Asylum announced today that they've started shooting Sharknado 5, and Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will once again reprise their roles as shark-fighting experts Fin Shepard and April Wexler.
It amazes me that there's such a big following for this stupid-ass franchise, but people seem to enjoy the ridiculousness of it. I've personally just found it painful to watch. If you are a Sharknado fan, I've got an excerpt from the script for you along with a description of the story.
Yep, there's that wonderful writing fans have been waiting for. As for the synopsis, here's what was given in the press release:

Syfy’s Sharknado: The 4th Awakens hit land this Sunday night, and just as with the previous sequel, the forecast called for tireless, tiresome stormchasing (or being chased by storm), as Fin Shepard and family again weathered extremely fishy meteorological phenomena.
PhotosSharknado 3: 40 of the Bad, Worst, Silliest and Shilliest Moments
Because make no mistake, whereas the original Sharknado was an expectedly silly and serviceable Syfy lark, Sharknado 2: The Second One was downright clever in parts (as confirmed by a partial, second viewing I stumbled into this weekend) and actually had a semblance of a story.

The fourth installment of Syfy's mega-popular Sharknado series premiered Sunday. And in case there was any question that The 4th Awakens would be a slight Star Wars parody, the film answered that right away by opening with an "Episode IV" scrolling prologue reminiscent of George Lucas' space franchise.
Ian Ziering was back as chainsaw-touting Fin Shepard, alongside Tara Reid and David Hasselhoff. With a new team of allies by their side, they battled the Sharknados – which this time have evolved into fire-breathing, hail-throwing, sand-blasting threats.

You may have trouble believing this, but the “Sharknado” franchise isn’t above the age-old practice of reviving a once-dead character in a sequel. Or is it? Ahead of “Sharknado: The 4th Awakens,” SyFy has revealed the results of a social-media campaign based around a simple question: “Does #AprilLive or does #AprilDie?” The character in question is played by Tara Reid, a mainstay of the series since its first installment. Watch the video below to learn her fate.

I don’t know why, but for some reason people love these stupid-ass Sharknado movies. There’s a fourth film currently in production, and it has been given groan-worthy Star Wars-inspired title. When flying sharks aren’t quite enough chaos for your movie, what do you do? The answer is simple. You add Gary Busey. That’s just what happened as SyFy announced that the mercurial actor and reality show regular will join the fourth incarnation of the Sharknado series. Busey will play April Wexler’s (Tara Reid) father, a scientist named Wilford. The network also announced that former supermodel Cheryl Tiegs has signed on to the made-for-tv movie as Fin’s (Ian Ziering) mother as has comedian Tommy Davidson. Whether this new casting will breathe life back into the series remains to be seen. Last summer’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! had 1.1 million viewers in the 18-49 demo. This was down 31 percent from Sharknado 2, which aired in July 2014. It’s unknown whether Tara Reid will reprise her role. Sharknado 3 ended with a cliff hanger about her fate...
