Going Underground
AussieJim12 May 2024
I have travelled extensively on New York City's subway system, and it never feels as dark and gritty as DiCillo depicts it in 'Down In Shadowland'.

I note that DiCillo concentrated his camera on some of the stations on the oldest subway lines servicing the outer boroughs, especially the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, rather than the new 2nd Avenue line, or those servicing the stunning Oculos complex.

Having said that, the New York City subway system has a life of its own; one that is like a microcosm of the world above, and DiCillo does a fantastic job of capturing that underground world with all its varied humanity.

Excruciatingly Boring. Spare yourself.

Repetitive imagery. Boring. Random filming for an hour. Boring. Bad music selection. Boring. Meaningless titles. I gave it 2 stars for a few interesting encounters. Not worth the time spent.

Basically a guy records being in the subway I suspect while he commuted himself . Boring and unwatchable looks like an amateur video that maybe belongs on you tube ! Not artistic just a bunch of pieces of film put together with no real thought our order .
