Henry Louis Gates explores the Greek ancestry of Tina Fey, David Sedaris and George Stephanopoulos.
We start by learning that less than 1% of America has Greek roots. This is a little bit shocking, but perhaps it should not be. Compared to other ethnicities, it is not seen as one of the major ones.
And who knew Tina Fey was Greek? Not that she gives off any specific ethnicity in her appearance... thanks to her, we learn of the Chios Massacre and how the Turks and Greeks interacted. This interaction comes into play again with David Sedaris -- who happens to be both Greek and Turkish! I found it interesting how hard it is to trace roots in Greece compared to other European countries. I am used to records being readily available, but Greece is the exception, it seems.
Where was John Stamos?
