- TriviaOriginally the studio had a "wait-and-see" policy for greenlighting this sequel depending on how the first movie did. However, they decided two weeks before the premier of the first movie to go ahead and greenlight The Scorch Trials anyway as the publicity and reviews were overwhelmingly good.
- GoofsWhen the Gladers are hung upside down over the pit, their hair and jackets hang down due to gravity. However, their shirts and T-shirts (which are not tucked into their waistbands) do not even though they are shown to be loose and bulky.
It's clear that the T-shirts are being held in place by stage tape to prevent them from exposing the actor's midriffs and possibly covering their faces.
- Alternate versionsWhen submitted for classification for its UK cinema release, the BBFC advised the distributors to cut some gruesome moments to avoid a 15 rating. These included some moments of threat and horror involving "zombie-like" characters and shots of injuries caused by a beating. When the film was resubmitted with these cuts made, it was given a 12A. The uncut version was later released as a limited edition Steelbook Blu-ray with a 15 rating.

Entertaining but not what I was expecting
This film tells the story of a group of young people in a facility where they are told that they are safe. However, they find out it is not the case. After they escape from the facility, they struggle for survival from their captors in a world full of zombies.
I liked the first "Maze Runner" because there is much excitement and mystery. In "Maze Runner The Scorch Trials", there is excitement but little mystery. We get to know everything twenty minutes into the film, so there is little mystery to engage the viewers. The introduction of zombies is a bit strange, and I find myself wishing that this installment has mazes and contraptions like the first "Maze Runner". That being said, the film is still entertaining and exciting, it is just not what I expected it to be.
