"A Very Special Supernatural Special" is what it says it is: a special that aired on television before the 10th season the the show Supernatural back in fall 2013 and by now they seem to be reaching new extremes as it's season 13 already and perhaps there will be more. Let me start by saying that I have never seen (so far) a single episode of Supernatural, even if it has been on my watchlist for a long time, but new shows constantly popped up that I had more of an interest in and as fantasy is not really my genre and what I have seen from the show so far did not impress me too much, I never watched it yet. I probably will at some point, but don't know when yet. The thing that caught my attention first here was the participation of Jensen Ackles as I am a huge Dark Angel fan. Always have been, always will be, but somehow I have a feeling Supernatural is just another Vampire Diaries without the vampires and quality-wise this doesn't mean anything good. The lack of Emmy and Globes attention isn't helping either. Now as for this special here: There are some massive spoilers, so you should have seen everything until the end of season 9 when watching. Also it runs for 33-34 minutes only and I guess the number listed on imdb includes 2 sets of commercials. This one here has two problems that making-of documentaries often struggle with. The first would be that it is not insightful really, but tells you things that you know if you have seen the show and you most likely have, maybe several times, if you plan on watching this special. The second is that they are basically just saying how great and amazing everything and everybody related to the show is and these self-flattering orgies are always pretty tough to handle for me, especially if on other occasions they try to make an impression of how humble they are. So yeah, this is the one you want to check out if you love the show. If you don't, it will not turn you into a fan. But if you kept watching Supernatural until before season 10, then I assume, you are enough of a fan to give this one a go and will most certainly like it more than I did. I myself, however, must give it a thumbs-down as I really did not find it informative at all. And boy is the imdb rating here baffling. Don't watch. Or if you do, then at least give it a fair rating. This is not on the level of The Godfather films for example.
