The teenager Abby Fisher and her boyfriend Slade walk through a dangerous alley, when a homeless man points a gun to robber them. However, Slade fights back and kills the man. He flees, but Abby remains in the place. When Officer Akers arrives at the crime scene, she asks to talk to Sara Sidle. She explains to Officer Akers that, ten years ago, Abby's father killed the whole family and committed suicide while camping, and Abby was the only survivor. However, Abby explains to Sara that the incident with the homeless brought forgotten memories from the night her family was killed to her with the smell of kerosene and her father was not the killer and was innocent. Sara decides to revisit the case closed ten years ago, since she had not processed all the evidence. Dr. Robbins had affirmed that it was a suicide, and the case was closed. Russell lets her reopen the case, knowing that Dr. Robbins and Ecklie will not be happy.
"Dead Woods" is a great episode of "CSI", with the reopening of an old case closed. I am not sure whether the justice of my country would accept this situation with old evidence, but it is great to see cleaning the name of a man wrongly accused of murdering his family. At least in fiction we see justice, which make us feel good. My vote is eight.
