Shadow Creatures

This is quite fun although it is clearly just a filler. Silly squabbling between the crew is getting tiresome and that is not helpful to this episode. That squabbling causes them to miss a fuel leak which puts Hera and Sabine in danger.

It is quite good that the creatures that threaten them exist in the shadows bringing some creepy menace at times with the threat of their attack as shadow approaches the ship.

There is some character building for Hera and Sabine and entertaining monster threat but this is an insubstantial episode.

My rating: 6.5/10.

Out of Darkness

There was something quite charming about this episode. It is sort of a "mother/daughter" arc where we see the relationship blossom between Hera and Sabine. There are a lot of core questions being asked here and all of them serve the characters. Sabine is something who is having a hard time trusting the other members, especially Hera and Kanan, because they don't always tell her about their missions. We learn that she was once enrolled in the Imperial Academy, so it makes sense that she would have a hard time trusting certain individuals. Hera also came to play in this episode, and I liked the role that she took on. There were some solid action sequences, but once again I have to mention that this works better as an ensemble. The limited presence of the other members was lacking and I would have loved to see more of them go on the mission. However, that wouldn't have served the story, so on that level I completely understand why they weren't there. It was a better episode than the last one, which was a disappointment, and it has gotten me more invested in certain characters.

Out of Darkness...

...comes the first episode it fought was just okay. I see where Sabine is coming from, as well as what the writers tried to do with that plot, but I didn't care all that much for the actual fighting stuff. It's not a terrible episode, just feels very mid.

Better Than Expected

With a lower user rating at the time of this review, I was expecting this episode to be okay at best. However, I actually liked it a fair bit. The aggressive shadow creatures were interesting.

Anyway, my only complaint is the constant bickering between Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper. It is getting a bit tiresome, not unlike my neighbour with their five endlessly fighting kids.

This is my first viewing of Rebels. While I prefer the animation of the Clone Wars, I am liking the show so far. It is reminiscent of Firefly. I just hope the younger characters (and my neighbours) mature sooner than later.

_Into_ Darkness, So Skip It

Warning: Spoilers
Apparently one needs to skip approximately every third episode. This one is just a soap opera about stupid people (loosely speaking) who do not deserve their miraculous escape from the consequences of their irresponsibility and breach of operational security.
