- The BAU is called to Salt Lake City, Utah to investigate a suspicious triple-homicide. Throughout the course of their investigation, they eventually discover that a fugitive killer could possibly be linked to the UnSub and he could also be a familiar face.—MissFortuneCookie
- Rossi learns that Hotch and Beth have broken up due to distance as Hotch encouraged her to accept a job offer in Hong Kong. Before Rossi can help Hotch commiserate and move on, they and the rest of team need to head to Salt Lake City, Utah to investigate three associated homicides. One victim is a security guard, who was found dead at the remote office building where he worked. The second and third victims are husband and wife Ron and Karen Meyerson, who were shot in their home, the murder weapon being the security guard's gun. The Meyersons were having marital difficulties due primarily to living beyond their means. Because of the erratic nature of the unsub's actions, the team believes the murders were personal in nature and of opportunity rather than the victims being targeted. They find holes dug in the Meyerson's backyard, the unsub probably looking for something. Looking into the history of that home, the team is certain the unsub is twenty-nine year old Benton Farland. Twelve years ago at age seventeen, he was in a relationship with the home's owner at the time, then thirty year old Amelia Porter, the two who, high on drugs, raped and murdered his then twenty-one year old sister, Miriam Farland. Benton served twelve years for the crime - the relatively short term due to his age and providing evidence against Amelia - he who has just been released. Amelia, however, fled and has been living off the grid since, probably under an alias. Known to have survival skills, Amelia has only surfaced twice in twelve years, both times able to hide in outdoor remote locations. The team also discovers that Benton is working with someone, they discovering that that person is Andy Farland, Miriam's now grown son. Based on what they know of Andy's therapy, they believe that he either empathizes with his Uncle Benton's plight, or is trying to protect their other traveling companion, Andy's younger sister, Rebecca Farland, from Benton, who seems to be desperate. The team has to discover if Benton has a plan, and if so what it is so that they can follow his predicted movements with Andy and Rebecca in tow.—Huggo
