Calder Michaels and a tactical team pull up to an apartment complex at dawn, looking for Alan Langer. When they reach his apartment, he jumps out a ground floor window and takes off. They follow, but lose him.
Meanwhile, back in Buenos Aires, McQuaid argues that Balenko is slowing them down, but Annie suggests he has high intelligence value. They agree to keep him alive as they make their way to the US embassy.
On the plane home, Auggie is frustrated to be out of the action and that Natasha is still stuck in Canada waiting on her immunity deal. Decker suggests that there is life outside the Agency.
In BA, the trio is ambushed by a sniper as they try to make their way to a car. Annie shoots a car to blow it up for a smoke screen. As they prepare to make a run for it, McQuaid suggests to Annie that if they live, they should get married.
They make their way to the sniper's position and take him out. They find a radio and learn the rest of the squad is nearby. McQuaid suggests it's time to go on offense.
Back in DC, Arthur Campbell meets with a political party representative who tells him Senator Pierson will be stepping down and they want Arthur to run for her seat. He's honored, but not sure about putting his family through a political campaign.
Calder checks on Stephanie in the hospital, but she's still out.
Back at Langley, Auggie returns and suggests embassy cars go looking for Annie. He also suggests leaving a car outside a cemetery Annie knows.
In an alley, Annie and McQuaid take up positions and wait with Balenko sitting out in the open. Operatives approach from either direction, but escape their fire. Balenko takes the opportunity to sneak off. Annie chases after him and catches up easily. But she soon crumples to the ground as she experiences a heart episode.
Later, McQuaid gets nervous when he finds her comm unit on the ground. Annie wakes up woozy on a couch with Balenko in the next room. He saved her to have her help with the Russians.
At Langley, Auggie gets word that Natasha will be on a flight to DC in the afternoon and her immunity has come through. He talks to her briefly, telling her to come to his apartment when she arrives.
When Calder returns to Langley, Joan tells him there's no word from Annie, but they know the Russians have sent people in. Joe stops by to criticize Calder for going out on a small time mission related to his "girlfriend" with the Buenos Aires situation unfolding. Joan defends him.
In BA, Balenko gives Annie her gun back just as McQuaid finds them after bribing locals for information
Back out on the streets, Annie suggests they head toward the cemetery Auggie mentioned to her earlier because he might send a car.
In DC, an agent gets into his car and is quickly strangled by Alan Langer, who bears a resemblance to him. Langer goes about changing his appearance and heading to Langley as him.
Auggie raises the possibility of Annie coming back to the CIA, but Joan says she has to want to come back. Then Langer drops in on Auggie, saying he's from Polygraph and Decker is down there. Auggie goes with him, telling his receptionist Linda that he'll be back in 10 minutes.
Annie, McQuaid and Balekno arrive at Recoleta Cemetery in BA and find the car and agent sent by Auggie. But before they reach it, a Russian grabs the agent and stabs him and Annie is too far away to help. A game of cat and mouse begins among the crypts.
They find one operative and quietly snap his neck, but another pins them down with an assault rifle, hitting Balenko in the thigh in the process. Annie gives the sniper's walkie talkie to Balenko and tells him to relay a message in Russian calling for retreat. It works.
Annie helps Balenko to his feet while McQuaid goes after the retreating Russian. He jumps him, but the Russian pulls the pin on a grenade he's wearing and grabs onto McQuaid's leg. Standing a few week away, Annie is helpless as it arms. McQuaid throws himself over the Russian's body and it detonates. But the blast is absorbed by the Russian and McQuaid gets up, unharmed.
Arthur gets a visit from the political operative, who has gotten the Senate committee to declassify the report on his son Teo Braga and the real reason Arthur resigned from the CIA to alleviate Arthur's concerns about Joan having to put up with people thinking he had an affair.
Annie calls Auggie, but he's not at his desk. Annie gets a text on Balenko's phone and knows Langer is in the building.
He leads Auggie into the polygraph room with Decker and takes a small vial out of the hidden chamber in a pen. He tosses the glass cylinder on the table and it breaks, releasing a toxic gas. Before Auggie or Decker can relax, Langer short circuits the door, trapping them inside.
Following Annie's alert, Calder leads a team down to the room and hits a button to suck out the gas. Alan Langer is killed. Auggie and Decker are OK.
Back in BA, Annie tells Balenko the hit he put out on them failed. She reminds him that with the Russians after him, he can make them pay by turning on them. He thanks her.
Joan runs into Joe again in the hall. He tells her his boss, the DCI, wants to talk to her.
Auggie listens during Decker's debriefing, while he talks about the CIA costing him all his personal relationships. Auggie leaves to go meet Natasha.
At home, Joan tells Arthur that the DCI offered her an amazing job. Arthur says it's once in a lifetime. He's not sure the scrutiny of running for senate is worth it.
Back in BA, Annie stops and tells McQuaid she doesn't want to lose him. It sounds like she's considering breaking things off out of concerns of his safety, but he points out there are no guarantees and takes her hand.
Annie returns to Langley for a voluntary debriefing. Joan invites her to join her new task force, the DCI agreed to change the rules to let Annie back with her condition.
Auggie drops by Annie's loft with news: He's leaving the Agency to travel the world with Natasha. Annie hugs him, saying she's happy for him and has lot of big decisions to make.
Auggie encourages her to listen to her instincts and her heart. She takes a deep breath. "Got it."
