The CEO of Abs-cbn has lifted the lid on how the media conglom’s first variety show collaboration with former network rival GMA typifies a new era of business for the Filipino company.
Abs-cbs teamed with GMA to air the popular midday variety show It’s Showtime, which will air from April 6 on GMA’s main channel.
The series is a long-running franchise that first premiered in 2009 on Abs-cbn, 11 years before the company lost its broadcasting license due to a Philippines’ National Telecommunications Commission order in 2020.
Since then, the Filipino media giant has pivoted to focus on content production, partnering with other companies to distribute shows domestically. It’s Showtime is Abs-cbn’s second collaboration with GMA, after previously working together on drama series Unbreak My Heart last year. In exclusive comments made to Deadline, Abs-cbn CEO Carlo Katigbak explained the strategic pivot.

Showtime announced Wednesday that it has renewed two of its prestige shows, Homeland and The Affair. Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon's national-security thriller Homeland, currently in its fifth season, will air the final two episodes of its Berlin season. While we don't know what season six will bring, we can say that fräulein Claire Danes's cry-face and terrorism are two solid bets. Sarah Treem's The Affair, which fractured into four different perspectives this season, gets a third season to make you feel better (or not?) about your own marriages. It's showtime!

A photo posted by The Countess (@ladygaga) on Oct 7, 2015 at 7:42am Pdt Lady Gaga is no stranger to showing skin, and on Wednesday, Mother Monster shamelessly promoted the season premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel by going nearly nude on Instagram, writing, "It's showtime. #ahshotel Tonight." Lady Gaga's latest social media antic comes just a day after she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and revealed the thing about her that "particularly freaks out" her fiancé, Taylor Kinney. Coincidentally, that was the same day that she and her mom hit the town in NYC. See Lady Gaga's racy shot above, then get a sneak peek at the show's first three episodes.

Are you ready to be worshipped?
Then, the new, full-length trailer for "Magic Mike Xxl" is here and just waiting to do just that. That teaser for the movie released in February was just an appetizer. This is the main course - feast your eyes on bulging biceps, drool over thrusting hips, and get drunk on some six-packs. Lots and lots of six-packs.
Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Adam Rodriguez, and company are heading to Myrtle Beach for a stripper convention, and are working on some sexy new moves - like Manganiello's insane body roll and water bottle thrust in a gas station. (Is it hot in here or what?)
Tatum calls it their last ride, and judging from the glimpses of their routines - we're on board. So are Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Banks, and Jada Pinkett Smith, who declares, "It's showtime!"
"Magic Mike Xxl" bares all in theaters...

Michael Keaton has hosted “Saturday Night Live” twice before, but hasn’t hosted since 1992. It was a full decade between that and his original hosting gig. The man does not rush things when it comes to hanging out in Studio 8H. And while the iron may not be quite as hot on his career as it was during the recent Oscars season, that’s no reason not to have him host now. His off-kilter persona and unique energy are still perfect for the show, and there’s little reason to think there’s every chance for a great episode tonight. As always, I’ll be liveblogging each segment as they air. As always, a few of you will not understand that it’s Ok if my opinions don’t line up with yours. As always, most of you understand that and enjoy sharing your opinions along with mine in real time.

Since Breaking Bad's wrenching finale in September 2013, fans have been craving another fix from showrunner Vince Gilligan – especially after the announcement that Bob Odenkirk's character Saul Goodman would lead his own spin-off.
Better Call Saul has finally arrived, and it's (dare we say it?) addictive.
Rather than trying to ride a few more miles on Breaking Bad's success – as so many other spin-offs before it have – AMC's newest offering thrives as a standalone. Breaking Bad fans will of course enjoy the callbacks and cameos as we learn how James "Jimmy" McGill became Saul Goodman, but the series...

Before Saul Goodman was Saul Goodman, he was James McGill. And according to the latest trailer for Better Call Saul, James McGill got in quite a bit of trouble. The trailer kicks off with Saul (Bob Odenkirk) on the ground in handcuffs, followed by a shot of him looking into a mirror and declaring, in his typical theatrical fashion, "It's showtime, folks." He shouts about how much money means to him ("Money is not beside the point," he says, "money is the point"), has an awkward encounter with Breaking Bad veteran Mike (Jonathan Banks), and finds himself tied up in...
