It has its charme

"Less than 30" is in a way what you could call one in a row of movies developing around the struggle of modern day twenty-something singles in bigger cities. In this one, the main character develops the idea of dating only those men proposed by a dating site, whose matches are beneath the magical border of thirty percent, thus leading the mechanism ad absurd um.

Some elements of the movie are really lovely. As an example I really enjoyed that the general tone is quite close to real life and in many scenes it doesn't feel like someone carefully dropped every last word there. I also find the general concept itself quite catchy, although I have to say that I would have liked to see more of it, because actually you get to know or see very little of experiences linked to her decision to meet non-matching men. Instead a love story is developed that is kind of cute but very unnecessary because it turns a special film into a partly cheap romance. Same goes for the elements of humor, that most of the time fit the movie well, but sometimes just go so much over the top that the movie feels more like an Internet video than a full feature film.

All in all this is mainly a movie for single women in need of some romance and hope. As such it is cute and charming, it missed some chances to be more though.
