Good performances

Warning: Spoilers
A film about people trying to regain what they have lost - a stuntman - his ability to ride a horse again after an accident and a woman trying to find her previous self.

There is a contrast between the two main characters. Marc is strong and determined while Florence is doubtful and unsure. The attraction between them works as an inspiration for both of them. Their relationship is shown in a beautiful and artistic way. The main actors give very good performances, worthy of admiring.

It is interesting to note how the different sets also play part in character composition. Every time Florence is with Marc they are shown in wide areas as a metaphor for opening of the soul and creating a kind of a peaceful mood while when without him she is surrounded by different obstacles as if she is closed within herself with her own thoughts.

Overall, a well-balanced film that is interesting to watch.

Horses, Stunts, Wheelchairs and Insurance Adjustors in this French Drama
t-dooley-69-38691611 November 2015
Albert Dupontel of 'A Very Long Engagement' plays Marc Guermont. He is a horse trainer and a stunt man. On one shoot he gets injured and ends up being a paraplegic. We join him as he returns from hospital and tries to put his life back together.

Then his insurance representative turns up this is Florence Kernel - Cécile De France – 'Mesrine' – and tries to get him to settle the claim. He has different ideas and soon they are having to see more of each other ostensibly to settle the case.

Now to say anymore would be a plot spoiler. This is essentially the story of them both, but the backdrop of the injury and redemption is quite good if a bit 'seen it before' in terms of the plot and structure. This then is a 'nice' film, it will not make your top five movies of all time, but it is a good way to while away 87 minutes. In French with good sub titles and some nice horsey shots – one for fans of our Gallic neighbours.

The fighting horseman
searchanddestroy-120 April 2015
A very poignant story about a former stunt horseman who badly fell during his job and who stayed paralyzed from waist to feet. The lead character is played by the always tremendous Albert Dupontel, who also gives here a brilliant performance. He is here a desperate man who fights against all odds to pay his bills, get the insurance money and also not to fall in love with a beautiful insurance employee - Cecile de France. Yes, a beautiful story that deserves to be watched. I appreciated the ending, not in the American kind way. See what I mean?

A movie about horses too, a touching tale speaking of hope.

I don't know the film maker, what he gave us before.

Brilliant storyline

Cécile de France and Albert Dupontel are excellent in this story of a stuntman unlikely bond with his insurance company adjustor, following a devastating accident.

However, the horse "Othello" is the one, brilliant ! Amazing, exceptionally beautiful and elegant !

Stretches credulity that even the French countryside can't fix
lgracelyn4 July 2023
A beautiful protagonist ( played by one of France's best contemporary actresses), a handsome horse trainer who suffers a terrible riding accident, beautiful French countryside and a magnificent horse! What can go wrong? Alot...the story stretches believability because not enough time is spent developing the characters. We see the woman going to the office then home...the man adapting to life post accident and relying on long suffering and underappreciated helper Antoine. We're expected to believe that the woman is convinced to ride the powerful and spirited horse with no experience and not only ride like an expert but also fall in love with the horse and presumably the trainer? Meanwhile, the woman realizes that her job sucks and is corrupt and stops loving her home life with zero reason...cut to bizarre and way too long boat scene where the woman clutches man's hand to her face? Trying to be arty? There is zero chemistry between the 2 leads..oh and I forgot to mention the woman is a concert pianist in her spare time? Silly scenes where her boss is yelling at her in front of everyone to show how mean the corp world is.. swing and a miss for me...
