Due to lack of initial funding, the filming portion of Six Feet from the Edge had to be broke into two phases. Phase one filmed the love story between Jonathan and April, which helped raise the remainder of funds needed to complete the film. Phase two covered the filming of all other characters and major conflicts within the story.
The original script for Six Feet from the Edge had the story's location set in New York. When Paul Winston got a hold of the script, he changed the location of the story from New York to his hometown Petaluma, California.
