Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) felt the taunts of irony on Wednesday while temporarily presiding over a House session. The Georgia representative called for decorum in the chamber and was greeted by bursts of laughter from her Democratic colleagues.
“Members are reminded to abide by decorum of the House,” she said in an attempt to quiet down assembled members during a floor speech by House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.). Instead, the room erupted in boisterous laughter, prompting Green to repeatedly bang her gavel, not that it helped much.

We need to stop acting surprised when Adam Sandler gives a powerful performance, as he does in the Safdie brothers’ “Uncut Gems” (Lionsgate); great work pops up throughout his career, from “Punch-Drunk Love” to “The Meyerowitz Stories.” Granted, whereas some movie stars take a “one for them, one for me” approach to balancing popcorn fare with arthouse titles, Sandler is more “ten for them, one for me”; if a great Sandler performance needn’t elicit shock anymore, it should bring up a touch of sadness for the career that might have been.
If you haven’t seen “Good Time” or other earlier Safdie movies, you might not be prepared for their brand of anxious, cinematic-panic-attack filmmaking. “Uncut Gems” will make you uneasy,...

NBC’s America’s Got Talent has filled its two vacant judge chairs. Modern Family star Sofia Vergara is joining the hit summer reality series as a new judge for its upcoming 15th season. Additionally, Heidi Klum, who was a judge on Agt for six seasons, from 2013-2018, is coming back. They are being joined by returning judges Simon Cowell, who is Agt’s creator and executive producer, and Howie Mandel, as well as host Terry Crews.
“I’m so happy to join my new family on Agt,” said Vergara, who will be making Agt history. “This is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!”
Vergara and Klum succeed Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough who were let go in November after one season on Agt.

Multiple Emmy-winning make-up artist Thomas Burman and Oscar-nominated hair stylist Martin Samuel will receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at the seventh annual Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards this weekend.
Muahs also said today that a special memorial award honoring producer-writer-director John Singleton, who died in April, will be accepted by his daughter Justice Singleton and presented by Craig Brewer and Rob Smith.
Burman has earned seven Emmy Awards — including three for working on Tracey Ullman shows — and 31 nominations during his five-decade career in TV and film. He also scored an Oscar nomination for the 1988 Bill Murray holiday movie Scrooged. Burman hired one of the first two women make-up artists, paving the way for many talented women into the field.
